so, i recently got this wii u pro controller to play wii games like mario kart n shit, as soon an i try to use it, only the home, + , - buttons worked, any idea on how to get it to function? i really dont want to throw this away/refund it because it feels really good (also, ita a 3rd parti controller, the name is Controller pro U)

I am not aware of a software solution that will work for Wii games. Nintendont supports other controllers for playing GameCube games, but not Wii ones.

Hardware solutions exist for connecting the controller wirelessly to a dongle with a GameCube controller plug (if your Wii has the sockets) or a Classic Controller plug (into a Wiimote). BlueRetro is the thing to search for. You can make your own, or buy a pre-made one plus the plug. I thought I saw a pre-made single item with the CC port, bat can't find it again. You might even be able to use the 8bitdo Retro Receiver meant for the NES/SNES classic mini, as they also use the wiimote-to-classic-controller plug, but that might not support the sticks, as NES/SNES didn't have sticks. This page says it does support sticks!

The cat in my avatar is using the controller you have! But there are two versions of this. If there are two switches on the back, for mode and orientation, your controller should already work as a Classic Controller Pro in classic mode (/ in the other mode, as a wiimote with no analog stick support). If there are no mode switches, you are out of luck - it is a 3rd-party Wii U Pro controller.

Wii U Pro Controller can work wirelessly on any homebrew application (nintendont, emulators), just sync the same way as a wii remote.
I don't think there's a way to play Wii games with it. You can try to connect it to a BlueRetro connected to a gamecube's controller port.

But why Wii U Wii side (vWii) homebrews still unable to map button from these controller (and the gamecube usb adapter as well) there aren't games so they could if they want to...

I think you have to, light a wiimote, press the home button (like that you will see the battery level) and then on a WiiU controller the 2 red button at the same time like a wiimote and you will see the "P2" battery blinking and shut off. So the controller is appaired to the Wii but is "a ghost" Lol ? on the Wii menu.
But then it will awake if you go run nintendont with a wiimote

From my tests on my vWii, the original Wii U Pro Controller worked normally in homebrew applications, just like it did on the Wii. It worked on Nintendont and emulators without any issues. On the other hand, when I tested a generic Pro Controller, it didn’t work.

I synced the original Wii U Pro Controller the same way we sync a Wii Remote. On the Wii Menu, I opened the Home Menu and pressed the sync button on both the Wii and the Wii U Pro Controller. The Player 2 battery icon in the Home Menu blinked white and then turned off again, indicating that the controller was paired but is not compatible with the Wii Menu (which is why it didn’t stay connected).

When launching any homebrew application, whether an emulator, Nintendont, or any other, pressing any button on the Wii U Pro Controller made it connect to the Wii normally, and I was able to use it wirelessly without any issues. On the Wii U, it was even simpler since the Pro Controller was already paired with the Wii U, so I just had to open an application for it to connect.

As for generic controllers, none of the ones I tested worked. Incompatibility, perhaps?

Personally I didn't say It would't work for emulators but I talked for usb loader gx for exemple (navigate in the loader not playing games). I don't have an official Wii U pro controller to test it though, only an oem gamecube usb adapter.

Yeah, the controller works on most wii homebrew apps!

There are always some people who can't get the Wii U Pro Controller to work on homebrew apps. I'm not sure if it's something with the controller itself or some kind of incompatibility. But it's not very common. I imagine it happens about as often as an original Wii Remote not working with homebrew apps. It's rare, but it can happen. I made a video about this on my YouTube channel, but it's in Brazilian Portuguese, so I'm not sure how helpful it will be.
