Guess: the ID is HA*A. H is for System Channels. The last A is for region free. The middle two letters are for the actual title ID.

Unused IDs: HAHA, HAIA, HANA, HAOA, HAQA, HARA, HASA, HAUA, HAXA.

HAMA has been recently leaked last fall to be Virtual Console Manual Viewer Menu. It is a debugging menu.
HAKA & HALA are EULA & Region Select, respectively, 2 of 3 known hidden channels.
I'm hopping it's HAHA just because that'd be funny

is this project still being worked on? I like using WiiMC to play DVDs but I kinda wanna play them in a more authentic kinda way yk

not much luck
not really sure where to go from here
but there's a good chance that IOS also needs to be edited: I need to make a custom module that allows correct reading of the DVD video properly. Also I know how to reverse engineer Wii code now so maybe I should revisit this
Yo OP, any updates?

Hey Op, is there a video tutorial for this? I'm new to wii modding and I haven't got a clue on what file I put this on in my SD card, or if I need to make some. Thanks!

ngl I totally forgot about this lol
check out this guide, Wii themes imo are a little tricky to set up, so take your time and read carefully

Project updates:

With a lot more experience than last time with reverse engineering I might just be able to properly patch the Wii Menu to accept DVDs
A Google search just now found me a brand new full wip decomp of it (it's kinda like what they did with Super Mario 64 PC Port..). Be sure to give them a star and maybe even help work on it :) Full decompilation is not really my thing, but I very much do appreciate the efforts of those who do
https://github.com/koopthekoopa/wii-ipl

The final optimal goal of the project will be once the DVD is loaded, show the disc animation, then a custom DVD banner with the DVD name, then display 'Watch DVD' instead of 'Start.' On boot it will be a simple redirect to a hidden Wii channel with a hardcoded ID. This channel can be whatever you want it to be, for example WiiMC.

With a fully decompiled code I have a handful of other ideas for the Wii Menu as well!
(These are just a few brainstormed ideas with what's possible with a full decomp)
- displaying GameCube disc banners from Disc Channel (this feature was planned initially but scrapped by Nintendo for technical reasons)
- load burned discs without the need of cIOS (which has other downsides)
- load Wii Channels from USB Flash Drive
- proper support of Calendar past the Year 2035
- integration of USBLoaderGX into the Wii Menu
- deluxe homebrew suite for creating custom Wii Banners
- safer, automatic alternatives to homebrew and game forwarders
- support for custom splash screens and boot animations

this decomp will also make it easier to make Priiloader hacks

Fully decompiling System Menu 4.3 for each region would make Priiloader hacks ultimately unnecessary - or perhaps the ultimate delivery system for modified menus. Just modify a copy of the source code, and have the toolchain spit out a hacks_hash.ini?

Just came to reply, I'm pleasantly surprised to know that you haven't given up on this. I have Wiimc, but I'd love to be able to play Dvds as it was meant to be intended. I will keep my eye on this project, and if you get this working, it will most likely be the first and only time i'll go through the trouble to get custom Wii themes. :yaywii:

Yeah it would be interesting to see this working. Wonder if performance would be better then WiiMC too as I've noticed some frame rate issues.

I have a launch unit with write-able Boot2 fyi. ;)
The movie player itself will be WiiMC, so no immediate performance upgrades, but if a different movie player is used, say the unreleased one from Sonic Solutions, there might be better perf. This is mostly a UI thing
I'm trying to replicate the official documentation of having a hidden channel forwarded to by Disc Channel
