Hi everybody, today i got my first switch oled chipped and its already been setup by the previous owner, i have been going through all the steps to get it updated and right now i was setting up exosphere and dns mitm, i saw on the console sd that the atmosphere folder have already an emummc.txt with the mentioned 9dns. I have read that dns mitm its the better option, so my question is how do i remove 9dns? just replace the emummc.txt with the one in the dns mitm guide?. And last question on the host folder there is also a default.txt but i had read in the guide that if i plan to play offline on emunand i should change the default.txt to emummc.txt, so can i delete it and just let only the emummc.txt on the folder?

Hello,

Sorry if this is easily found elsewhere, I’ve searched forums and reddit for a couple hours and found nothing super clear for my case.

I have a switch that is patched, and I was hoping to use RCM and hekate along with Tegra to pull a backup of the Nand so I could attempt to use the saves on a PC emulator.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it possible to inject hekate and perform this on the patched switch? I wanted to ask before I buy an RCM tool and an SD card.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, for patched units modchip is the only way of getting CFW installed.

As far as I know, 90DNS is usually set up manually per wireless connection, therefore if you remove all of the saved connections, you'll remove it completely. emummc.txt and default.txt that are located in atmosphere/hosts folder are files used in DNS MITM method.

And last question on the host folder there is also a default.txt but i had read in the guide that if i plan to play offline on emunand i should change the default.txt to emummc.txt, so can i delete it and just let only the emummc.txt on the folder?
It doesn't hurt to keep both of them around should you ever need to boot into Atmosphere CFW on sysMMC. But if you'd like to reduce clutter, feel free to remove default.txt as you won't need it on emuMMC.

I'm not sure about the "overwrite the stack" part as I haven't used TegraRCM... ever? I usually use Rekado for pushing payloads. Anyway, you first need to push TegraExplorer payload in order to partition your SD card. Once you do that, you'll copy all the necessary parts onto the accessible partition on your SD card (i.e. Hekate, Atmosphere, all that stuff). After that, you'll send the Hekate payload and continue to make emuMMC and essential backups.
So I know I am being a massive bother to you at this point.

I followed the guide and think I have the basics set up! Yay!

So now I am wondering,

1) How do I update my firmware (online through nintendo while in emunand? while in sysnand? or some other way)? I popped in a game I bought and I can't use it without updating.

2)Is it safe to go online / play online/ access the eshop with sysnand? With emunand??

3) Should I now install Exosphere or Incognito alongside EmuNAND and DNS MITM?

4) anything else you recommend I do / update?

Thank you!

My user data on my emummc was somehow lost and/or deleted. So its forcing me to start over with settings/user syncing. all my other data is still there though but its wont let me play without having my user(s) or completely starting over with new user account and being forced to delete all my data. I still have access to sysnand and homebrew so maybe that can help

My question is
1) where is user data stored on emummc?

2) am I able to restore that user data easily by extracting from my nand backup and adding folder or is my best bet copying my whole emummc and extracting game/game saves then starting over to add everything back from computer? Thanks

P.S. can't go online. Already got banned long while ago for accidentally downloading cheats to sysnand.

In hekate, sd tools, mount emummc via usb

Then get nxnandmanager

https://github.com/eliboa/NxNandMan...ount-and-open-your-nintendo-switchs-nand-gui-

Then you can browse the unencrypted files from your user partition, game save data will be in the save folder

I suggest backup the emummc entirely too, in case you're not able to restore that save data to new system you will at least have a proper backup you can use to get back to where you were

Please Help!

Every game I put in gives me the same message - "The game card could not be read please reinsert it"

This is a newly opened switch - just hacked using this guide https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/emummc/sd_preparation/

And then copying Hekate+AMS-package3-sigpatches-1.7.1-cfw-18.1.0V2 over the contents of the SD card.

I don't know if I did something wrong or if I missed something, but I can't get any card to work.

I did update the custom firmware on sysnand and emunand to 16 but nothing on the stock.

I also place the stratospere.ini in the right spot with [stratosphere] nogc = 0

I don't have any idea what to do here.

Any ideas?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

UPDATE 1: When I boot into stock sys mmc, I can get games to show up. Hopefully that helps.

So I know I am being a massive bother to you at this point.
Nah, I'm happy to help if I can. Especially with the easy stuff. ^^

1) How do I update my firmware (online through nintendo while in emunand? while in sysnand? or some other way)? I popped in a game I bought and I can't use it without updating.
There are a few ways, two of them being:
1) If you sysNAND is clean (i.e. no homebrew, hacking or CFW stuff installed on it), you can update it the official way. Once you do that, you can dump your sysNAND's firmware files and update your emuNAND's firmware via Daybreak after that.
2) You can find the firmware files online, download the ZIP file and extract it to the folder e.g. firmware on the root of your SD card. You'll need to find those files on your own as they contain copyrighted material which can't be linked here according to the forum rules. However, quick Google search is all it takes to find it. I know of two trusted sources, one of which is a regular website, while the other is a github page.

I prefer the 2nd one as it's easy enough and I can keep my sysNAND's firmware the lowest possible, just in case someone discovers a software-only exploit that works on a higher firmware revisions.

2)Is it safe to go online / play online/ access the eshop with sysnand? With emunand??
Going online is only safe on a clean sysNAND. Here's a short guide on how to avoid getting ban i.e. what to do and what not to do.
As for emuNAND, I'm not sure if people are using it for official online play? Especially if you're running game backups / pirated copies of the games you want to play. Going online on emuNAND is only safe if you have 90DNS or DNS MITM in place. I know for sure that local multiplayer works for most of the games I've played on two of my Switches. There's also a thing called LAN Play, but I haven't checked it out personally.

3) Should I now install Exosphere or Incognito alongside EmuNAND and DNS MITM?
Blanking your prodinfo via Exosphere is possible, but it's usefulness is questionable. DBI, for example, can guess your serial number through "creative coding". You can see whether it's true or not by going into its system info option. I've heard that Exosphere's prodinfo blanking was created mainly in order to prevent the situation where people lost their prodinfo backups for whatever reason, rendering them unable to restore those same backups in order to reverse Incognito.

It doesn't hurt to enable it via Exposhere, but it probably isn't doing much. 90DNS and/or DNS MITM should be more than enough.

4) anything else you recommend I do / update?
Nothing much other than that, really. Here are some homebrew apps that you may find useful:
1) emuiibo for amiibo emulation.
2) AmiiboGenerator for downloading amiibo. (I believe it won't work if you have a blank prodinfo?)
3) linkalho for linking fake NNID accounts to your profiles, which are required for some games to work such as Nintendo Switch Online titles.
4) DBI for installing games.
5) NX Activity Log for keeping track of your gaming activity.

Thanks again - especially for #1

I managed to update my firmware but now I have another issue - see my post above yours. I can't figure this out.

I'm hoping you say that is easy too, lol.

I may just redo the custom firmware. I'm not sure what else to try ...unless I installed sigpatches wrong.

UPDATE: I think I may have it.... give me a few minutes (834 PM now)

Game card reader is disabled by default, you need to enable it to use it. Here's how.

And then copying Hekate+AMS-package3-sigpatches-1.7.1-cfw-18.1.0V2 over the contents of the SD card.
I'm yet to test those myself to see if they work. I do suggest using sys-patch instead [1][2].

I'm not sure what my be the issue there. Make sure that you've placed the stratosphere.ini file in the correct spot and that it has the correct extension and everything.

Thank you!

For the sys patch ...just drag and drop into my sd card root?

So somehow, I got it to work? Maybe it needed to power off a couple times?

I was able to install from game cards via dbi, then when I would choose the game it would tell me it was corrupted. After letting the system "check" it, the games are playing!

Thank you so much Blythe93!!!!

Yep. Optionally, you can also install Tesla + nx-ovlloader as that will allow you to see whether sys-patch is working properly, after you press L + D-pad Down + R (Stick) combo, select sys-patch, followed by Log. If it says:
  1. Patched = the pattern it's searching for is already patched by sigpatches, so there's no need to patch it again;
  2. Patched = the pattern is patched by sys-patch (i.e. sigpatches are not present or haven't been applied on boot);
  3. Unpatched = the pattern wasn't found by sys-patch on the current system so there's no need to patch them (only present if you turn off the Version skip in the Options).

Does that replace Hekake? Do you inject it?

Nope. Those are two completely separate things. nx-ovlloader is a host process for loading Switch overlays, while Tesla menu is and initial menu to be loaded with nx-ovlloader. sys-patch is a sys-module which comes with its overlay as well that you can access via Tesla menu.

Found a replacement battery on ebay from 400+ sold: https://www.ebay.com/itm/174021109877
Ran it down and charged it up, capacity is far from advertised. Suggestions for a legitimate one?

Bit of a problem: Installed the latest mort*l kombat v16 update and venom's dlc unlocker. Used awoo (sd card mode) and tinfoil (usb), neither work but they do show up in the system menu. Am I missing something?

You can update CFW files first, then update firmware with daybreak, you can follow the guide below for how to update, since you have an emunand that is seperated from your OFW, so you don't have to touch that. You will need to check what games require what firmware on your own.

Would I need to update to play smash bros mods ?
