Switchroot Android R version publicly released, allows you to boot Android 11 on all Switch models

The first public release of Switchroot's Android R/11 version is here. Available as a beta, the Switchroot team has published a guide on how to run Android 11 or R on all models of hacked Nintendo Switch systems. You'll need to delete your previous Switchroot installation if you want to run it, with the new version offering better WiFi consistency, more JoyCon support, and quality of life improvements. This is a beta release, so bugs are expected, though the Switchroot developers claim that this is fairly stable, as far as beta releases go.

I've been using android on my switch for game streaming for over a year now and I just pre ordered the Rog Ally a week ago lol. This would of been amazing for me but I'm moving on to the Rog Ally now. But still amazing work to the devs!!

Great! I'm gonna switch on this right away. I hope Exagear performance got a little boost on this. Can't wait to try my PC games.

Nintendo i choose you! do your laser law attack to this! :gun:
Nintendo will probably try something to defend themselves, but the Switch has become a hilarious joke now. 🤣

Switch on PC
Switch on Android
Android on the Switch

On a more serious note, it's good to see a system blown wide open. 😆

Try Dolphin mmjr some games run with full speed, or have minor fps drop. I give up GC emulation on switch. Cause switch dont have much power to emulate GC games. I tried many dolphin forks, with many configs. Only some GC games can run with full speed

Well, I tried it when it was Android 10, I think. I wantes to emulate some Gamecube games, but it was pretty impossible. I don't think there is a better performance on this. But to other people to like / have a use for it, it is for sure cool have something like this!!!

I have waited since buying the Switch in late 2019 and the time has finally come to install Android on my Mariko, patience sometimes does pay off.

If you have an erista unit. I would recommend that you wait to upgrade to android 11 until it out out of beta. Performance is off on some erista units and waking the device up from sleep mode could also hinder the performance until you reboot.

Which version of mmj did you use to test this? I’ve tried several with mixed results…

Basically you have to tweak things A LOT to actually get some games to work. Plus with newer Dolphin builds performance has worsened on older devices. The only units that stand a chance to play more GC/Wii games are the Mariko units with good CPU/RAM binning sadly.
