Depends what you want and need it for.

If you want to transfer Pokemon from the GBA games to the DS games, you're need an EZ-FLASH Omega DE or one of those "flash-once" (can't remember the name exactly) carts with a cart reader/writer. Otherwise your only alternative to the Omega DE is the EverDrive GBA Mini.

The Omega DE is a bit more finicky to work with, but is slightly cheaper than the EverDrive.

What would be the benefit in transferring Pokemon? I only want to play GBA games.

EZ Flash Omega is the cheapest that is worthwhile*.

The DE version adds several features, but if you just care about playing games the biggest feature it adds is better handling of saves. It basically address some issues where if you turn off your gba too quick your saves can get corrupted on the original.

The EverDrive is probably the “best” overall and uses the least power even though it has slightly fewer features than the Omega DE. It’s also the most expensive.

* there are Supercard clones available again, but they are bad especially for GBA games.

One feature that I like about EZ Flash Omega DE version is its rumble feature which allows me to play some GBA games with rumble on such as Drill Dozer. This retail cartridge is very expensive right now. Thanks to EZ Flash Omega DE, I can play this game with full rumble support right now and the result is so satisfactory. It even support GBC games with rumble support. That is what EverDrive doesn't offer in his product.

What do you mean that the saves get corrupted on the original? I mainly want to play back ups.

With the Omega, there is a delay in writing the save. If you save, then power off within 5 seconds, then the save wouldnt have time to write to the cart. The save will become corrupted. The Omega DE solves this issue. Do you mind waiting? It's a big deal breaker, to some.

I went with the Omega DE, then sold my everdrive.

I've seen some on AliExpress/eBay for around 20€, they're purple with a weird greenish sticker. Those would be way cheaper but are those also capable of the writing feature? I've bought a GBC cart on AliExpress that does it.

I always liked my M3 perfect sd and never had issues with that besides it sticking out of console a little bit. Not sure if can find them used. I’ve had mine close to 20 years plus or minus. Bought brand new. I recently bought the everdrive mini to have a flush flashcart but still prefer my M3. Everdrive is a bit expensive but seems to runs games good. Better then my original supercard sd not that can find those ether.

The cheap ones on AliExpress are the Supercard or a clone of it. Compatibility problems and slowdowns in various GBA games, not recommended unless cheapness is your top priority.

If your goal is to play GBA games and you can afford one of the others, I’d avoid the SuperCard clones. They have noticeable slowdown on many GBA games. How much that bothers someone will probably vary per game and how sensitive the person is to it. It also requires you to manually patch games with software that hasn’t been updated in years and I think the new clones only support 2GB or smaller sd cards. I think there are some compatibility lists people have made that highlight what games don’t work well.

Even the non-definitive edition Omega is a much more functional card. If you can remember to not turn it off right away or let the batteries run too low, you won’t have too many problems.

Something that doesn't get mentioned too often that really should, if you have a Game Boy Micro, I would advise NOT getting an EZ Flash Omega DE due to how much power it draws in comparison to the EverDrive GBA Mini, which for me has resulted in games crashing ALOT. The Micro simply can't handle it unless it's plugged in to a power supply when you're playing.

I use an EZ Flash Omega DE with a Game Boy Micro and it works great for me. Do you run into issues very quickly or only after long sessions? I usually keep my battery topped off and play probably under an hour at a time most days. I can play a half hour session of Panel de Pon without issue. Battery doesn't go into the red all that quickly.

It's fairly quickly but definitely more of a problem if one of the addons is active (Reset, Savestate, Cheat, etc)

Cheapest place to get omega?

What about fort he omega DE?
Ebay is the cheapest at $79 with free shipping, while Amazon is the second cheapest at $79 and about $5 for shipping.

(Official dealers listed on the EZ Flash website)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/314211582247

These are by far the cheapest I've found compared to specialty shops which charge $110+ for it.

So it's either that or the overdrive which is even more money huh? Is this EZflash a clone or the original?
