Thank you, I knew about this but often I dont find recent updates... I thought there was another way such as updating them OTA or some website with game update compilation.
Unless things have changed since I last checked, updates are usually becoming quickly available once they are released, on the different websites offering nsp files. I would google the gameid if I were you. Remember to end the gameid with 800 to specifically look for the update.

Restoring your backup, like you did, should get you back to a working state, but the problem you have now is that your fuses count does not match your firmware. Solution: boot through Hekate. It ignores the burnt fuses. You should boot back to the same firmware you had when you made your backup. If everything is working, just re-hack and re-update afterwards.
You're right, I can boot into the older stock firmware using Hekate after restoring the backup. However, I'm confused as to where to go from here. As I noted, at the time I made the backup, Atmosphere didn't work for me, and it still doesn't. I even deleted the relevant files from my SD card and followed the guide again, but trying to launch puts me right back into RCM. I even tried obtaining older matching versions of Atmosphere/Hekate but those came with their own errors. I tried updating from within stock, but this just bricked that again and had to restore the backup. Any idea how I can get Atmosphere working? I really appreciate your help so far!

I would suggest following a different guide, then. Try Switch Hacking Is Easy Take your time and read it, and when you feel confident, go for it.

Hi! I'm currently having an issue with a lite model that I recently moded with a picofly. Here's the error:

Pkg1 decryption failed!
BEK is missing!
Failed to launch HOS!

Is it a chip instalation problem or is it a problem with the sd files? Can anyone help me?

Hello everyone. I am looking for advice on how to unbrick my Switch after updating the stock firmware.

My Switch is unpatched and I can enter RCM using a jig. I was on firmware 10.1.0 before the update. I followed the NH Switch Guide on a previously unhacked Switch, including dumping my keys and creating backups. However, once I tried to launch Atmosphere, I'd only get thrown back into RCM.

My thought process at the time was that my firmware needed to be newer to match up with the latest Atmosphere. So I booted back into the stock firmware and updated. The dialog said it was successful and that the Switch would reboot, but it did not turn back on. So somehow, my Switch got bricked doing the official update. I tried the standard things such as holding the power button for 15sec (and in combination with the volume buttons), but no luck. In case it is somehow relevant, I should mention that my Switch does not have a working game card reader.

Getting back into Hekate, I tried the three launch options (Atmosphere emuNAND, Atmosphere sysNAND, and stock), but all blackscreened. Inside Hekate, I saw that the burnt fuse count had increased from 13 to 18 (firmware 16.0.0+), meaning that the update had been applied to a point.

Next I tried a guide entitled "Rectify Boot Errors" by Switchway to try to restore the system, but this did not work. I next tried to restore my backup (from before the update), but the Switch still does not boot. I stopped at this point as it was clear that I am out of my depth and might cause even further damage, which why I am turning to you folks.

I'd like to get back to a point where I can boot the stock firmware. Any help would be appreciated!
Sounds like you have a donor nand. I'm not an expert in this area, but atmosphere crashing and the game card reader not working after classic signs of this.

You probably need to refresh the nand using the profinfo gen tool. I don't want to advise more than that because there are guides that will explain everything better than I could. Do some reading and watch a few videos before you attempt it.

If it is a donor nand you might need to do that every time you update (or don't update).

Before you do that try booting into Nintendo's recovery mode and see if you can fix it via an official method.

Which shops? It's quite a painful task to look fot updates for each game for the matching region and manually install it.

Nobody can directly recommend shops in here. Look at Allen retro gaming you tube channel or Google search.

If you have another switch/freind you can also update using there switch off they have the same game.

Use exosphere.ini and emummc.txt/default.txt to block notifications from Nintendo about updating games.

I have a launch Switch that's hacked. If I don't load into Hakate, if I load into the normal official Switch system, can I play multiplayer without getting banned if I have the actual game cartridge?

Yes and no.

If it was hacked correctly, using emunand and some sort of protection that blocks Nintendo or removes profinfo (serial numbers), then your almost definitely good to go. Did you mod it?

Are you using any of the following 90dns (if so change to something else too), a host file such as emummc.txt in atmosphere/hosts, incognito, exosphere.ini (on the root of the SD card) or finally is DNS.mtm enabled? In atmosphere system_settings.ini?

If your using one or more of those options your probably blocking Nintendo? If so try and boot into ofw. If you don't see any of your games or any evidence of modding your probably ok.

Basically when you modded the switch you (should have) modded emunand which is a copy. So your switch switch is clean and unmodded. The problem is it's an exact copy. All the serial numbers and personal info, user's, WiFi etc are all copied.

Nintendo blocks the switch on the server side if they realise it's modded. So even if if switch is completely untouched or factory reset once banned it's banned forever.

You may have already banned the switch if Nintendo wasn't blocked, or you may have done something with the sysnand (cfw).... But generally if you keep the sysnand clean your ok.

I'm not sure what bek is.

But the other errors are because atmosphere is out of date. Most probably you've updated your firmware? You need new atmosphere to work with new Nintendo fw.

Always update atmosphere first it's backwards compatible with old Nintendo fw. Also update your sig patches (or games won't launch).

If you've not got it search for a file called exosphere.ini and pop it in the root of the SD card before you update.

Bek

Is the biskeys you need to run lockpick.rcm use the sysnand and keep a copy. Upon completion, keys will be saved to /switch/prod.keys and titlekeys to /switch/title.keys on SD.

Hi all. I've done a lot of reading and i have a few questions if that's ok.

So there's 2 methods, CFW through unpatched console. Then there's modchip that them allows you to install CFW. right?

From what i understand the modchip simply allows you to install CFW, so the installation of CFW after installing the chip is the same as doing it on a unpatched console right?

I'm looking to buy the hwfly v5 or 4.1? This is where in really confused. I have one switch and one switch lite that i want to do I'm not sure which is the right one. I saw there's an instinct modchip too. It's that compatible with all versions or just oled?

Anyone?

question about installing a mod on switch

for base game we need to create a romfs folder inside atmosphere\content\(gameID)

if the game have a DLC, do I need to put the mod file on the base game romfs or create a new romfs folder with the game DLC-ID?

Today I paid someone that knows soldering and modding switches and they modded my console. But know I have no idea how to install homebrew apps update or other things. I only have tinfoil and a shortcut on my main screen and I don't know how to boot in hatake or configure the atmosphere.
As you can see I don't know much about modding, the only thing i ever modded was my 3ds, so please go easy on me.

Hi guys, new to GBATemp, and I have a simple question (although it could turn out to be complicated)
A friend gave me his v2 Mariko Switch. It's only problem is that it does not boot.
It just hangs at the black and white Nintendo Switch logo (the 2nd).
It charges properly, both at 5V and at 15V according to my tester, and at least one of the joycons actually connects as indicated by the light on it. It also won't go into the recovery mode (Vol+/Vol- pressed while powering up).
There is no liquid damage, and all the relevant caps seem to be fine as well, I couldn't find any shorts.
Now from my research the 2nd logo, the B&W Nintendo Switch Logo, is part of the OFW boot sequence, so that would mean it get's stuck there somewhere. Would I be correct in assuming that if the hardware is not faulty, I could install a PicoFly and rebuild the NAND from there? It's cheap enough to give it a shot, but if you have any other ideas I'd like to hear them.

Hi.
From these 3 shops, which would be better to become Pro user:
Teknik Pro
Tits Pro
PixelShop Pro

Tits Pro probably, but you don't need tinfoil if you are going to install a bunch of games and not play it.

You can try to rebuild NAND but you won't be able to go online, you can try to go into maintenance mode and see if that solve anything for you.

[url that can't be in my post cuz im a newbie]

It won't go into Maintenance Mode. It just keeps booting into the 2nd logo and then stops there, just displaying that logo until the battery dies or I turn it off.

I don't think there is a pixel shop Pro... But I'm pretty sure if you're pro in one you're pro in them all.

Sound like the NAND gone bad.
Yeah I was afraid someone would say that. If the NAND has gone bad, there is no way I can ever get it to go online again is there? I mean I could have a new NAND chip soldered or order a used module, but then I'd still have to rebuild it for my console right?

Edit: Thanks either way Hayato, we'll see if I can fix it ;-)

Yeah, Pixel is the only free now. The Pros are not even accepting donations, they are only accepting missing content! Which sucks, of course!
