Are arcades actually dying in Japan? Or are these bullshit claims by Western journalists and YouTubers?

I don't live there but my pal from the school times does. He never said anything about arcades specifically, but he told me that he is working much more hours and more days than 3 or 5 years ago. The reasons are not restricted to his life, it seems a widespread problem. On one side the cost of living skyrocket (mainly because rent prices) and on other side there is a big workforce shortage. So both the companies and the employees are interested in extra hours. It seems silly but it is not, people overworking will not have time or energy to go out for leisure like they did before. Maybe arcades are getting a hit because that.
