Android is not available for Mariko yet. Ubuntu works great though.

Unless you want to solder a mosfet directly to the cpu cap the yes the flex cables are still needed

get CPU1 line from flex cables, you can check sthetix's images with CPU 1 line

I had to rebuild my Flex Lite cable because…reasons.

it will give you an idea of how the flex cable thing works. Soldering one mosfet is easier.
