How do I record 3DS Camera videos at FULL resolution

640*480 sounds like it's the bottom screen? That resolution is in 4:3 while 480*240 is 16:9.

I know that doesn't answer, but should let you know if you're not aware.

Even if modifying the 3DS's proprietary software and drivers wasn't a concern, it's probably not possible due to hardware limitations of the camera sensor chip and/or the DSP (digital signal processing) hardware. It just wouldn't be able handle capturing that many frames per second in its full resolution. It's the same for pretty much all cameras and phones too - the maximum resolution of captured photos is higher than the maximum resolution you can record video in.

Sounds plausible. But even if one could somehow record the videos in VGA: The cameras themselves are just crap. They were way below standard in 2010. And they do not even take good quality pictures for the VGA resolution. Read: pictures in 640*480 can look better than what DSi and 2|3DS cameras deliver.

It is nothing more than a fun toy, especially using the 3D function. Since the screen is unable to show the full resolution and most common monitors do not support 3D (anymore), there is little point in watching the bad photos/videos on another device -- at least in my opinion.
