Please delete your full serial number. Only need what I left in. You don’t want the Ninty Ninjas talking about you to their friends!
I doubt Nintendo would ban a Switch console based on a full serial number posted here or on some other hacking forum. What if there was a typo in the SN? They would risk banning an unsuspecting legit user? Definitely not. They need better evidence.

I agree in general but I think they might give you extra attention when they see you connect. Then again, I’m probably paranoid. 🤪

Hi. Few months ago I bought a Pro Controller that seemed to be the official one after checking some YouTube videos. Today I've been trying to update it but I get stuck at the begging and when I try to update it wired, I get the message "Unable to update". Is that a fake controller that looks like the official one and I got scammed? Thanks in advance.
Only way to find out is if you post some pics (front and back).

Should never post full serial number here, even with site that check for unpatch unit you just need the prefix + 6 digits.

Posting a full serial number is not the greatest idea, no doubts, but it's more than likely harmless, as I was mentioning. Nintendo would need more data to decide to use the ban hammer. Nowadays, people reveal their most intimate secrets on social networks, so no wonder they have no problem posting their Switch's SN on a public forum. :(

The same reason other doesn't the rest of the world to know their full serial number would be that you don't want the rest of the would to know the full serial number of your unit, beside the tool for unpatched unit only need the prefix + 6 digits, like XAW1000000. You would never know what other can do to your unit anyway.

don't give the full serial number.
only the beginning should be enough (like we did on Wii)

you never know what could be done to your console/account if you publicly provide your full serial.

Anyway this is what Cyan said back in 2017.

Okay that's what I thought.
On the nintendo help page for resetting the system it says it must be online to do the reset, is that right?
That's really weird but I think its to remove any connection with a Nintendo Account which could be useful since certain games need a linked Nintendo Account. Anyway, if you don't want to connect to the Internet, I believe there is a way to initialize the console without going online. You can do it from Maintenance Mode. To enter, simply hold both volume + and - when turning the console on and you will be greeted with the Maintenance Mode screen. Select Initialize console from there.

Should I reset it then attempt to go online and update it before I do the hack?
Or is it better to just leave it unconnected and stay on firmware 13.1.0

Which is best?

It is better to stay on firmware 13.1. While your firmware doesn't affect your ability to hack, there is no telling what the future may hold. And there are certain ways you can update the firmware after hacking that can retain your ability to launch that firmware.

okay, currently I am using tinfoil to dump all of the roms that I actually want to be able to reinstall after I reset it.

Not about to rush the procedure.

I had somebody send me their dd214 to prove a point Online and they didn’t think anything of it. A dd214 is a U.S. military document that has your full name, address, dob and social security number. I was like…dude. Are you stupid? He didn’t seem to care. 🤷🏿‍♀️

Can i use any of no quick charge 5v 2A or 3A charger with my switch v1 :X? And what compatibile quick chargers can i use, is it just pd like in samsung?
Also what is the best solution for saves and perhaps backuping them on cloud like mega or something like that?

okay so whilst I am backing up these roms I have followed the switch hacking guide and used my laptop to inject payload on a fresh memory card just to establish that I'm good to go before I start to wipe everything.
works fine as expected.
also tried to use my ns atmosphere payload injector dongle with the fresh new memory card and it throws up a boot error about wrong version.
I expected this, is it just a matter of changing the payload file on the dongle itself to the updated version that i launched from my laptop using the tool?

Best to use official charger.

Official charger doesn't cost that much, if the charger you using supply the wrong voltage then your switch is done for.
again yes, but i have alredy a lot of chargers, thats why iam asking of the other users expirience and what tech is it using :P

As long it isn't docked, you probably would be fine with 5v/2a, but if you want insurance policy that why you stick to oem charger for any electronics.

@Hayato213 is being careful to not give you bad advice and have you blow up your Switch cause he’s a good guy like that. Pure Ninty chargers is the way to go.

That said I use 3rd party PC charger on mine. Be careful as there were some issues with bad docks breaking Switches in the past. For me, I carefully read the reviews on Amazon a while ago when I got mine.

Haven’t had any issues but that’s just me.

Here’s mine doing it’s thing:

I’m not going to link to the one I use for the same reasons…in general look for well known name brands that actually do real PD charging.

E: btw, here’s what the official charger stats look like (more power than 3rd party:
