Rant about public transport

I've been waiting the public bus for at least 50 minutes now, when it was supposed to come through around 40 minutes ago.

Didn't make it in time for work.

This is just plain ridiculous.

This is in Querétaro, México by the way.

That sucks. Is it a public holiday? I remember waiting ages for a bus and not realising it was a public holiday and they were running on the Sunday schedule!

Buses will never run on this is a fact. There is always a granny that insists on paying her bus fair in pennies. It's a scientific fact

That sucks man. I hate public transport.

I used to take the public/city bus to school years ago (private school) - always full of characters. Every couple weeks kids would get into a big fight at the bus station.

Eventually I just started keeping my bus money and walking home. Although I understand this isn't a possibility for you as you probably live very far away. For me it was only 3 miles.

@Quantumcat That happened to me last year too! On September 15th and 16th. It's a Mexican holiday, and buses were coming through one per hour. I never thought they would decrease their rate on those days, but they did.

So, I thought about today, and no, no official holiday today around here.

I just got to work, and read an article about the bus drivers having a strike where I live. So, it's probably because of that. They complain because of the recently mandatory NFC cards system for passengers (yep, just implemented mandatory last year, and optional in 2015), and want to get back to the old system where they received actual cash from passengers.

@DinohScene I'm actually learning to drive, I hope to be getting my license by December. I will still need a car, but what gives. It'll come later one way or another.

i understand that, in my city public transport is horrible, bus always come full of people imposible to get inside and they always remove more and more bus from lines having even less to use, a lot of times i arrived late to school

@x65943 Yeah, it's a bit far. I've walked to the place before, and I make around 90 minutes to get here. Not sure about the distance, though, maybe I could improve my walking and make it 60 minutes, that would be reasonable, and I could get some kind of exercise for my lazy self. I'm a sedentary programmer, so I'll take this into consideration.

Will check the distance and comment about it later.

@BlueFox gui Yes, it's really awful the government doesn't even care. Some years ago, buses were holded and managed by private companies here. Since 2014, the government changed their mind, and started making laws for managing everything themselves, and private companies were forced to sell everything to them. Worst thing to do.

The service has been getting worse every year since that. Only good thing about their involvement is the NFC bus card system, before them, buses they received only cash. Everything else is just worse in every possible aspect.

a few years ago they started with a card system too, where you pay just a bit to use, and then the price was getting higher and higher people complained and they stopped but 1 or 2 years ago they ended with those cards, they just keep student card

I live less than a mile than school, but if you wanted to get anywhere else, you flat-out can't. There is no public transport besides school buses which require an expensive-ass yearly pass. Our town doesn't even have a BART station, the nearest is in Lafayette, which is 10-15 minutes away.

@SirNapkin1334 Well, that sounds awful. How is the place where you live? Is it a big city or a small town? I mean, if it's a town and it's not so big, I can get why there's no public transport, but if it's a big town or a city, I really can't think why wouldn't they build a public transport system.
