Games I completed thus far part 2

As title says. want to reflect on games I completed

1. Prince of Persia : the two thrones - man do I love this game. Used to play it a lot as kid on my PS2, but because disc was scratched I could never progress past certain points, and therefor had never beaten game. Bought it on sale on GOG for 2 bucks, played and enjoyed it with the same excitement as I did back in 2009. I know it reviewed worst out of trilogy but it is still my first prince of persia game and nothing can replace that. the environments of Babylon in ps2 era graphics is still sight to behold, I frequently stopped to take screenshots of scenery. going through manuals and wallpapers provided by GOG was treat too, scratched that late 2000s art style on internet. Happy I finally settled scores with this game, now I can move on to rest of POP games

2. Dying Light - Looked at game in awe back in early days of ps4 era, watched gameplay on youtube by TheRadBrad and thought it was awesome. fast forward to today and I had completely forgotten story of game, as well as locations and traits it had. I was fresh out of 100% ing both of Mirrors edge games (one of my favs of all time) and I thought playing another first person parkour game with zombies and shooting and crafting would be logical continuation. At first parkour mechanics were very awkward, after mirrors edge it felt like charecter was floating, more like swimming under water than actually parkouring, but I got used to it. Dynamic day/night cycles that change game mechanics were awesome, shat myself first time I had to do night mission but as I upgraded that became easier as well. overall progression is very good in game, abilities are added in games at moments when it makes sense (something that I parise Metroid series a lot for, its not as good as it is in Metroid but whats in dying light is still solid). when I thought I was done with game I played online session with my buddy to raid prison and that re-ignited excitement for game once again. overall, amazing game, if parkour mechanics was bit more like mirrors edge this would be one of my fav games of all time (I know, Im very biased to mirrors edge), but as it is I'd say this game is solid 8.5/10

3. Limbo - yep, THAT Limbo. I first saw this game running on iphone of my classmate back in 2013 (roughly) and thought it was amazing. I bought game on sale for switch and beat it (as you can tell I played a lot of games as kid but never finished them, digging them back up and completing them is very fun to do) buuut It did not have charm I thought it had 10 years ago. it was not bad, but nothing memorable either. Glad it beat it so its off my list of "games from past I wanted to play but never did", but I wont be replaying it again.

4. Hotline miami 1 - hell yeah, its hotline miami. turn your mind off, vibe to music and get into zone. This game I feel like I can reply anytime, love it.

5. Max payne 3 - as suggested by my Username, Max payne (third one) is my fav game of all time. I know that first 2 are classics (especially first one), but like in case of prince of persia, Max payne 3 was my first max payne I ever played, which is why its my fav. I have beaten this on PS3 more times than I can count, collected every clue and golden parts there. I bought it again on PC and for few days played obsessively, beat it 3 times (twice on hardest difficulty), found all clues / golden parts again, and aiming to 100% achievements (with online not being so active it will be hard, lets see). It was treat to play it with mouse and keyboard. with first 2 games being remade, I hope it gains enough traction so that rockstar and remedy agree to make fourth game.

6. not a game, but a book - Metro 2033 (book inspired game of same name ofc). I bought first 2 metro games on GOG, and thoguth I should read book first. Read first book and... big dissapointement. story is dragged on and on, charecters are not that memorable, the way main charecter "survives" close calls is too predictable and boring, and "plot twist" at the end is just forced, awkward, is not elaborated on at all and barely makes sense. I feel like it was added as forced shock element, except it also sounds like twist that 15 year old would think of, very cheap and has no value. the buildup was almost 500 pages (bloated), and surely author could've spent bit more time on finale, but thats not the case. Monologue of main charecter just before this "twist" is exactly opposite of what he thinks after the twist, and there seems to be no real reason for that heart of change, and worse, what does that change of heart even contribute to? what value does it give to reader? none that I could think of. if there is no meaning and it's just thriller, it wasn't even exciting to read as thriller.
I know games are good, so I'll just go ahead and play games, but book was big waste of time.

currently im playing return to castel wolfenstein and I love it (that bias towards mid 2000s aesthetics though), Mario odyssey (needless to say its amazing), and more Dying light but online with my buddy.
