My dad thinks his bird is the next Virgin Mary

Hark, ye of little faith, for a miracle has occurred this day.

I got home today to my dad excitedly yelling that no one will believe him, that “Virgin Mary has happened in this house!”

Just another Tuesday.

Even if such a claim made sense on this plane of reality, it’s a pretty wild thing to say casually with no context.

My dad dragged me over to the birdcage, where his best friend and ever-loyal bird buddy sat...next to...an egg...

Our bird had, without the assistance of another bird, laid an egg. Our presumably male bird had laid a tiny egg.

Most people would assume that the bird had been a girl the whole time, and that birds must be able to lay eggs without a second bird.

My dad had instead decided that a holy miracle had taken place, and that God had finally decided to perform an impossible feat to prove he exists.

Thus, the shouts of “Virgin Mary Birdy!” made sense. ...made as much sense as such a thing could, at least.

God works in mysterious ways. Mysterious male bird laying fertilized eggs ways, I guess, according to my dad.

I am just now realizing for the first time that regular birds lay unfertilized eggs just like chickens

I guess this is the bird version of having a period

The wait for a Dad story has been long but totally worth it. Chary your dad is a legend and thank you as you always come along with a new dad story just as I need cheering up.

This is actually funny, I have had a similar situation happening several years ago.

We used to have a cockatiel, the perfectly normal looking gray and yellow kind, and the birb was doing very well, having been under out care for a couple months.
For the entire time, we assumed it was a male... until a random day an egg was found. Then 2, then 3, and soon, around 6 or 7 eggs were under an improvised nest, with our birb aggressively covering them.

Needless to say, these were unfertilised eggs, and sadly we had to take them away because the birb was getting dehydrated and wouldn't eat anything for a week.

The very next day it was like nothing happened, except Charlot was then known as Charlotte, since we finally knew the truth, lol

Yes, female birds can lay eggs without a male bird. Since it's not fertilized, don't expect a baby bird to come out of it. I know, because I was witness to a similar event with a parakeet. Kept the eggs, but they never hatched. Bummer.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."
