My 3DS is dead.

FACK YOU Waterbottle!

Well I had a Badminton thingy. and well my water bottle was in my bag as well as my 3DS was.

So I came home with a smile. It vanished after I opened the pouch my 3DS was in.

I began to cy since it was on(to count my steps I made) and I opened the thing. The upper screen did not work. >.<

me turned it off, asked my father. He tried everything he could because it was wet when it was on! Well after drying it.(He knows what he was doing there) he turned it on. All hope is lost for me. Its dead. FUUUU I cry again.

Well no traces of water...

I am brining it to my game store in hope they don´t find anything! ^^

I am screwed, I did put about 650€ in it with games included I HAVE 9 GAMES.

THE RELEASE OF SELDA OOT IS NEARING AND I DON´T HAVE MY 3DS ANYMORE :glare:

Damn man I hope you understand my problem I did cry for 1 hour because of the time I did put in this device.

Damn I need my DSi XL with some good games. Could someone recommend me one I could play for a while?

but from what i can make out is that it was on in your bag at the time

sucks to be you

reminds me when i washing machined my phone (accident) / put it in sun for it to dry like 2 days, and voila it was back - but screen was all iffy.
Not going to work. Its turned on; AND both screen did not work. >.<

OMG I made a hard decision; my parents wanted me to give a gift because I cleared school. They suggested the repair costs of the console. But I said NO... Instead of that I am getting even more games for the 3DS... I will pay the repair costs myself.

Probably the best (but not the most honest) thing to do, clean it, make it shine like it's brand new, get every possible paper you had, then bring it and tell them a lie like:

I was playing and got a BSOD then I restarted it and it doesn't work anymore.

It might work since I guess they had many faulty 3DS back (come with your father/mother it will work much better).

No I won´t clean it up since there will be traces of my using of the console. >.< The analog nub... it has scratches, as well as the upper thing where the 2 camera´s are stationed.

But my plan in steps LOL

1. go to shop
2. say hi XD
3. say that my 3DS does not start up
4. Shows all his stuffs.
5. Hopes up if the exchange it for another console.

TBH you should at least try all possible options instead of signing them off as "not working". Provided they don't make anything worse and don't make the system look unfit for an exchange in the warranty, they're worth trying.

I remember my first PSP (I still have it). I got it and was so psyched. Downloaded a bunch of games and everything. I went to install CFW and the system bricked somehow. I was furious. Luckily I bought a Pandora and unbricked it as well as successfully installed CFW but it's a shitty situation to be in.

Just keep your hopes up and your options open.

fuu mate, that really sucks for ya, now i wont see you online anymore :c... The worst part is, that the warranty doesn't cover water damage... so yeah, ur pretty much screwed over.

if he can fake that it wasnt water damage... just go there, show it as not working, and they might just say, okay, give me the box and all the things, and i'll bring you a new one, *Guy goes into storage room* *Guy comes out with new 3ds box* Here it is.

Done!

Thats seriously mean. And oh yeah, I really don't understand the hype for a 13 year old game that has been ported countless times already.
I can count how many times it has been ported.
But I never saw it remade a single time.

Then you don't say it was water damage. Just said it stopped working and you don't know why.

There's been quite a few people I'm sure who've bricked their Wiis or other electronics but got a new one through their warranty. They just say they updated it and it stopped working. It's not like they'll really be able to check this if it's truly fucked, they'll just fork you over a new console.

It's a bit sketchy but hey, that's life for ya.
LOL. Nice try guild, but won't the 3DS have water damage markers?

Hopefully they don't.
My father removed them all. ^^ He knows how to open it without losing anything. It was only in the upper screen which could be opened easily.
If they see the water damage markers aren't there, they will know you or someone have opened it, which means no warranty at all.

If they don't see the water markers they won't assume it's water damage. They'll think it's something else and just toss you a new 3DS.

Sadly, that's not how it works. They have to check for the water damage markers right away, and it isn't like they aren't visible when they aren't wet. If you just take it to a game store though and say "it stopped working and I dunno why," it isn't like they're going to open it up on the spot. They aren't official Nintendo technicians, they aren't allowed to do that. Once you have the new 3DS, they accepted it and you can't get in trouble for having tampered with the device anymore.

Win/win

Sad to say, but that is indeed the case in Singapore. I've my first DS Lite down in the washer together with my jeans (yes... now I put my handhelds in a bag TOGETHER with an airfoam pouch) and it won't even turn on. I went to Maxsoft (yeah our local agent) and pretended as thou nothing has happened. In the end, they checked for water damage and KA-BOOMZ... the beans were spilled. In the end, they forced me to spend SGD 275 to get a new lite.

I don't know about your country or even the US though... but it should be the same. No water damage markers spotted? 50% chance the repair guy doesn't give a damn and gives you a replacement or 50% chance noticed and gives you nothing. Good luck bro. Hopefully you'll get a replacement

I am lucky.

It works. But look at the photo that I will upload soon; I need a new upper screen. >.<

Yeah I was cutious this morning turned it on I jumped in the air from happiness. IT WORKED but my 3D screen is fucked by water.

So my question where can I get a replacement screen for my device? and also when I open my 3DS it goes a bit heavy. ._.

here the pics:

My touchscreen survived also! But sometimes, my connection with the upper screen fades for a second whats up with that?

WOW the date does not match as well for the time! 0.o

So you put your 3DS in the same bag with water bottle and now you complain it doesn't work? Hopefully from now on you will remember how to treat electronic devices...

Wait a replacement screen.. PFFF called Nintendo they said hmmm nah to expensive you could trade it for a new one for €190 >.<

DAMN

Should I try and trade it at my local store?

Do you have the cash? I think currently people don't have as much expertise with replacing 3DS parts on their own, especially with the 3D screen. So if you have the cash, I'd say do it (or just buy a new one and keep the old one around just in case repairing it becomes easier later on).

Personal curiosity, does the 3D still work? You don't have to try it if you feel it's too risky, just wondering.

See the photo´s I posted ;) in one of my posts, its in the spoiler.

And yes it works. completely.

Sorry, you just said that the screen itself worked, not the 3D function itself.

But at least it's still usable. If there's water inside it though, I'm still gonna recommend the rice trick. It may just get the water out.

Hmmm rice trick.

How should I do that? should I remove the plastic thing that defends the screen?(I know how thanks to my father)

Seeing that the 3DS still works...

Use the rice technique before it's too late!!!

Oh, and refrain from turning on your system... In case of you know... stuff like electric shocks. It happened to me before.

I'd try it first with the screen thing on and if that doesn't work, take it off. Or ask your dad about it and see what his personal opinion is.

Just fill a bag with plain, uncooked rice and let it sit for a while. Make sure you cover up any holes where the rice might get into though (miscellaneous ports, speakers, etc). The last thing you want is a piece of rice in your 3DS. ;)

Finally got an appointment with an ENT, but it's not for another month. It's already been 4- days of loud ringing in my left ear, substantial pain on left side of my neck and left side on the back of my head. Doctors here at the regular clinic put me on a couple different meds for a month that did absolutely nothing, then they told me there's nothing more they can do for me despite being in pain and my ear sounding like im underwater and ringing.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Then three chiropractor appointments which also didn't help at all so i didn't go to the 4th. Been trying to get ahold of this ENT clinic out of town for a week and finally got an appointment set up. But its not til the 17th of July so I have to suffer all this shit for nearly another month.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
I hope relief from all of this is on the way because I've felt so defeated and severaly lacking in sleep because of the pain and ringing.
