To: Prime Minister
We, the undersigned, respectfully call on the Prime Minister, the Foreign Secretary and the Government of the United Kingdom to, without any delay, secure the release of Anthony Malone from the Pul-e-Charki prison in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Anthony has been held unlawfully for two and a half years, serving a prison sentence for non-payment of debt. Being in debt isn't a criminal offence in Afghanistan and there is no legal basis to hold him for this. Anthony has had very little legal representation or translations of any court proceedings.
Anthony, a former paratrooper, has served his two year sentence but two and a half years later has still not been released, which we believe is a violation of not just Anthony's human rights but also international law.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
