Rant about my School

I agree. Even if they did have the aircons fixed they could have gone with something that isn't apple so they would have more money to spend on things that are actually important.

and they certainly should pay for maintenance over shitty laptops for students. I don't quite understand the point in giving out laptops.

At least they didn't spend 4.7 million dollars on a football field like my High School did. Then our team totally sucked that season. Sucks for them.

Myself the real issue i see is the fact they don;t give them to the kids who need them most that is the ones Not in the Advanced classes, kids in advanced classes are already smart and using all the tools available to them.
Not to mention the school is Discriminating against the Kids who would benefit most from these mac book airs. now given that a single mac book air is prolly like 8 or 900 dollars perhaps cheaper for a school they could get 2-3 normal laptops from a company like dell for 1 and outfit every single student with a laptop without discrimination and that would be the better option.

if it really bugs ya enough i am sure you could arrange a student protest maybe write a inflammatory article in the Student paper. Contact the Relevant Parenting association for your school get them involved as i am sure alot of parents would take offense to their child being considered not good enough for these macbooks and you could possibly get it all kaiboshed p

It's always extremely saddening to see non media centered schools waste tons of cash on buying Macs (I would argue that Macs aren't even better for media, but the general opinion is that they are and so that is another discussion). How the fuck can paying a premium for every computer in the bulk being bought to have it designed well and look good be justified in the context of using it as a learning tool?

Not that PCs would necessarily be better learning tools but I have never seen any argument for what exactly is gained to benefit use in education in return for the almost double as high cost and requiring students to learn a new OS. Purchasing models specifically made to show off design like the Air just makes it even more ridiculous.

I think Apple gives huge discounts to schools or at least they did when I was in school.

Edit: I agree with you that macs are a bad platform for education because relatively few people use them irl.

Well, if this is true then I concede my argument for any school that can get Macs cheaper than PCs.

There are no such discounts given in my country though, and my rant was mainly due to me having seen five schools in my area, including the one I went to, waste lots of cash without providing any reason behind purchasing Macs instead of PCs and not even responding to my inquiries about the matter.
