When you can look, but can't touch.

I just got the Ratchet and Clank Trilogy off of the PlayStation Store.
They are 3 of my favorite games from my favorite series so i'm really hyped to play them.
It takes about 16 hours to download and when i got it I was thinking 'No problem, it's been 2 weeks since it's released so I can wait a little longer..."
And then when the download started, that is when I started to get uneasy, with 3 games that I used to skip out food for, with their huge progress bars teasing me.
It would be as easy as just downloading the first game which takes up about 26% of the 16 hour download which will download in about 4 and a bit hours, letting me play all night after coming back from work, but because of Sony's weird alphabetical order, they put the first game at the end of the download schedule.
So now i'm stuck waiting for the whole 16 hours to be able to play it.
If it downloaded number 3 first I could play some online before getting stuck into the games, but of course number 2 is the first on the download schedule.
Hopefully it downloads by the time that I wake up.
Oh yeah and my friend ruined my life, he gave me a months subscription of World of Warcraft...

Oh man...@TehSkull I know exactly that feel except it's 360 games. Took me almost 3 days to download FFXIII...takes me about 12-15 hours (depending on how many people are using the internet in the house) to download a full 360 game >.<

It takes me two days for a game I legally bought to ship to my house.

So not only am I out a chunk of cash, I have to wait longer as well.

I remember when my friend bought Warriors Orochi 3, he was so hyped to play it. Took like 6 hours for it to download for him.
So I buy it a few hours after he does, my download was done in half an hour, haha.
PSN downloads on my PS3 go fast as hell, but on my PSP/vita it's like 100x slower.

3 days isn't that bad considering when I tried to rip it from the disk to my PS3 it was like 45GB...

Poor you. I have to pay $20~ to get a game I order in 2 days.
Your damn fancy american shipping should be revered.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
