why won't NA localize games :[

a few searches , and i have been looking for a new game to buy . RPG specifically , and on XBOX 360, PC or Wii . i don't have a PS3 , but i want one . i might start saving up and making a fund for that , and hopefully , i could have enough money by June so i could buy a PS3 for myself ^^ .

games i want in spoiler :
on my search for a new game , i found a few that looked really good:
- Bulletstorm
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2
- Resonance of Fate

then there's all the games for PS3:
- Final Fantasy Versus XIII
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Rising
- Tales of Graces
- Tales of Vesperia
- Tales of Xillia [hey it's a new Tales of :D]

and then there's dem Wii games :
- No More Heroes
- No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
- Tales of Graces

come on NA, localize some damn games ! Tales of Graces looked like a GREAT improvement from Tales of Symphonia for Wii :\
if there is , could someone send me a link to a translation patch if it even exists ? i will be playing that until the day it gets released to NA , which is pretty much slim to none T.T

EDIT: they have a Tales of Graces for PS3 ?! WTF .
i am guessing ... PS3 version > Wii Version . :\

Comments

- Metal Gear Solid: Rising
- Tales of Vesperia

Tales of Vesperia is available for xbox and Rising is going to be a xbox exclusive.

yes, ps3 ver > wii ver for tales of graces

a lot of sites were making fun of people who got the wii ver, it seems they were just beta testers for the ps3 ver (they fixed all the problems with it)

i have Tales of Vesperia for xbox already . that's why i am getting it for PS3, since there's supposedly "added" content . and plus , who wouldn't get a remake of a game ...? if they remake it, they've obviously done something to improve it , or make it get better sales .

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is for PS3 too and PC . i just had the thought that if i was gonna get Metal Gear Solid, it would look nicer in a pile of games for PS3 then just one for PS3 and one for xbox :P

Tales of Graces, LOL . that's pretty sad , for those who bought it for Wii , but at least they have a new Tales of . it's great to see that the Wii is still getting a Tales of game even if it did have bugs and problems .

More speach throughout the whole game, Flynn joins your party at about the 2/3rd part of the game... Patty Fleur... more quests...

They better port this to the 360.

There is probably no chance of Xillia going to 360, and even less chance of it being localized...thanks to Bamco sucking the utmost ass.

ToV on the PS3 got a lot of filler, but nothing major was added. Except, I think, a new dungeon. Patty was a pretty boring character (played in the demo) and Flynn is a real loss, I love his arte set.
But really, the 360 version does its job just as good.

I wouldn't get Castlevania: LoS. Or at least, rent it first. I was waiting for that game ever since it was announced...rented it first day, played it for that first day...and returned it. It was terrible. I was crushed at how much I disliked it.

Can't wait for Graces to be translated. Looks like an amazing game, and it's apparently got a top notch story. Which isn't surprising really. But the translation is aaaages away. Even longer for ToG F I would imagine.
People speculated that since Team Destiny was involved in making ToG, it wasn't planned on being localized. Only Team Symphonia games get localized these days (Symphonia 1,2 , Abyss, Vesperia).
So we'll see if Xillia gets localized or not (unless i'm mistaken, it's purely a Team Symphonia game) Who the hell knows what Bamco is thinking though. Multiple companies approached them about translating Graces and Bamco said "Haha, make money? Screw that we'll let it rot."

I want Resonance of Fate as well.
Can't find it anywhere though, dammit. It's staying pretty highly priced too.

Dunno I haven't done a ton of research on it. I'm trying to ignore its existence so when it doesn't get localized, it won't feel so tragic.
After just googling it, I think you're right.

Ah well, maybe one day TS will do their own game again, and it'll be localized.
Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Since it wasn't mentioned.
Tales of Graces F (the PS3 version),if what I read is correct, has almost 3/4 more storyline that follows up 6 months after the Wii version ended (so it falls a bit short of doubling the story).
More artes...improved combat by adding 'accel mode' and a new Graces equivalent to a mystic arte for every character + tweaks, more costumes, more/added accessories like Vesperia.
Essentially tons of stuff got improved upon. Not to mention it's in HD. They ROYALLY screwed Wii users. This isn't just a bunch of filler like Vesperia PS3, it's as if the Wii gets a demo for Graces.

Graces? Good story? Nope. Most Tales games have generic animu stories with a few good characters here and there.

Combat is pretty fun though, like most Tales games.

Also: The PS3 version of Vesperia has Patty, and Flynn as playable characters, new music, new scenarios, more artes, new areas, up to level 8 in the overlimit, new hi-ougi or whatever, remodeled towns (Not a whole lot of them), and a few other stuff. In terms of content, 360 is the inferior beta version while the PS3 version is the fully finished version.

Takes a lot of money and time to localize an RPG (localization is more than a direct translation of text, after all), then the costs associated with making the media and ads and such... if there's no promise they'll make a good profit off it it most companies won't do it.

Yes, there's a handful of people that REALLY want tales games in english, but unless every one decides to buy multiple copies then they matter less than the millions of people who only partway-care about a less-"cool" game and will only buy one copy.

Tell that to Atlus, NIS, Aksys games and XSeed games. Despite how well their games sell, they try to bring more niche games out. You probably haven't even heard them at all. Takes a long time to localize an RPG, but it certainly doesn't cost them greatly.

Tales of Vesperia sold over 200,000 copies in North America. That's already better than almost every other game published recently by Bandai Namco. The problem isn't the cost. The real problem is that Bamco wants to literally compete with Final Fantasy and sell millions. It's like how they wanted Enslaved: An Odyssey to the west, Splatterhouse, and Clash of the titans to sell 600, 000 - 800, 000. Bamco makes terrible decisions by releasing games when other big companies in release something. Tales of Hearts came out on the same day as Dissidia, Tales of Graces wii came out a week before FF13, Tales of Graces PS3 came out on the same day as Mon Hun 3rd, Tales of the Abyss came out right before FFXII, and so on. They're just like SEGA and lack advertising.

Another problem is that Bamco doesn't want to let other companies localize their games. XSeed and Atlus already asked them in the past if they can localize any of their unreleased games, and Bamco has always refused. It wouldn't cost much, and all they'd do is to publish it.

Remember Tales of Symphonia? It was a huge success for the gamecube, by selling over 350,000 copies in North America in total. An improved PS2 version came out not too long after. What do they do? Pretending it doesn't exist and never bring it over, like every remake, port of their games.

TL;DR version /\
Bamco is retarded.

EDIT: If they advertised the Tales series, I think they could eventually compete with FF. It's clearly a better series, but no one knows about it. Pretty much everyone who does loves it. They just need to get the series more attention and stop releasing trash instead.
Honestly i've introduced the series to Final Fantasy fanatics and after playing some Tales games the phrase "Final what?" comes to mind. Games like WoW and FF can handle being subpar because they gained overwhelming popularity previously, and can now self-maintain the popularity because the simple and retarded formula that "Popular = more popularity".
If we could generate energy like popularity can generate MORE popularity, we'd never have energy problems again.

i can't believe i actually read all of that . made me keep on reading and not stopping . it was that interesting .

what i enjoy the most in all of the Tales of games are the battle system . sure characters can seem bland and boring , but it's the content itself that makes the game sell . there's more than just characters , but i guess if the characters are boring , who would give a damn about the story line anymore , thus' making people not want the game ...

if those games don't get localized , i might even just import them ... if they're too pricey , then a PS3 would just be dusty . i wouldn't want to buy CoD for 2 consoles then buy it for PC too ... which is a complete waste of money . when i compare the community of the two consoles at my school, the ones on the XBOX win since those people i've known longer . Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy Versus XIII , if I could find all of these games in FutureShop or BestBuy, then a PS3 wouldn't be that bad .

it's so hard to find a good RPG game nowadays , gaming always gets into a pause for me . Fire Emblem and Golden Sun were just those amazing games to me . i then find Tales of Vesperia but only had a Wii at the time and bought Tales of Symphonia . the instant i buy a 360, i find Tales of Vesperia and add it on . heck , i bet i have twice as much game time in my RPG games than all my FPS game times put together :\

EDIT: btw Hells Malice , i saw Resonance of Fate for $50 at Best buy :O
cheaper than Future Shop who [$60] and Gamestop [$65] .
though you can only buy it online .__.

thanks for the advice too . i will go look into Castlevania more to see if it's really worth that $60 !
okay first rent . gotta get that off of my wishlist . watching vids doesn't tell me enough to know if i really want that game or not .
