rant .
it's annoying when people want to assemble their own computers . people contact you , and they always expect an instant answer . if you want to know more , you should actually research . then following that is what they want in their computers . what happened to knowing what you want and not what you just need ? people investing in things they really don't need even in the next 10 years . "i want a computer with an i7 , 8GB of RAM , 2x1TB HDD and a 6950 ." lately , it's been a real bother , people [more like people who don't even have jobs] , wanting to just get the top of the line computer but not realizing what they really need for the future . they look at parts , jump to the higher price ranges and than instantly choose them not knowing the possibilities or even half the usage of the part .
there's a kid , 15 who added me on xfire after being interested in assembling his own computer . started off with exactly what i said before ; i7, 8GB of RAM, a 6950 and 2x1TB HDDs . he has no past knowledge on computers , doesn't even know what some things could be used for , and don't know why he chose such expensive parts . i've given him sites, guides, personal opinions towards his choices yet it is such a bother since he keeps on persisting on buying certain things . i understand , some people dream and actually buy these parts , but he is freakin' 15 . he plays CoD4 and JUST Minecraft . i asked him what he plans on doing with the computer , but all he wants to do is play games . not interested in anything else ; editing , rendering , nothing .
i told him , well if you are going to be just playing games , you don't need ALL those parts . you can make a computer for much less money to satisfy your needs . so i told him , an i5 2500K or Phenom II x4 , 4GB of RAM, 2x500GB HDD or 1x1TB HDD and a 5770 would do you good . he listened , then came back . he feels determined to wanting an i7 although he really doesn't need it at all . at one point , he even tried telling me he wanted a Phenom II x6 and i was literally annoyed and bothered at his thoughtless choices .
he doesn't understand the value of money . i told him , get what you need not what you just want . don't go all out with your money because really , there are cheaper parts that will satisfy your needs and possibly for the next 5 years if that's all you are going to be doing . he expects me to be able to answer his every question like i am some sort of resource . he is a lazy ass kid who expects everything will be given to him right away . he clearly doesn't listen and wants to be spoon-fed . i would slap this could just so he could understand that money is not easy to get .
