Just tried a Ding Dong

A colleague went to Costco and bought a bunch of snacks. One of them was a box of Ding Dongs. I took one, unwrapped it, took a small bite - tasted OK to start with if a bit sweet. Then got hit with a wave of chemically taste. It was disgusting. Tasted like something died and then they tried to hide the taste by soaking it in bitter overly-sweetened-with-chemicals medicine. I managed to take about 3 nibbles but then had to give up as it was making me feel sick. This was about 20 minutes ago and I still have a bitter taste in my mouth and feel sick.

They also bought a bag of pistachio squares, which I think were about the most delicious nut-based snack I have ever eaten. Perfect combination of slightly savoury but also sweet. Great texture. I could probably eat the whole bag. I was going to buy a membership to Costco just to be able to buy them (and bagels) but then found out the bag costs $20 (!!!!!!!) so maybe $60 a year and $20 a bag is a little too much, even though they are so darn delicious.

I was about to say I get a lot of that chemical aftertaste from Hostess brand cakes...

Then I looked it up and saw that Ding Dongs were made by Hostess.

Yeah, they put some weird shit in their cakes.

Ugh, sorry to hear that you subjected yourself to that. Pro tip, you're missing nothing in life by skipping out on any of those snack cakes from Hostess, Little Debbie, Entenmanns, etc.

Oh Little Debbie, thanks for reminding me the dark ages where I was addicted to those and could eat a full box in a single evening.

Lol all American made foods are trash and extremely unhealthy, but we can’t stop eating them. Remember that for next time.
