Vaping

I basically just want to sit here and clear up some misconceptions that people may have about vaping.

Firstly Nicotine is not a carcinogen. Yes it can be used as a poison and in large quantities is poisonous, but by the same logic drinking water in large quantities will kill you. Yes you have to be careful with E-liquids whether your just using them or making your own liquids.

So what are Eliquid made of ?

Well there are 4/5 main components of E-liquids you have the Nicotine that we already talked out Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin both of these are used in our day to day lives and are completely safe. The only bone of contention that people can have possibly with colouring and flavoring.

Yes there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there that will just just throw anything in to make a profit and this is where the problem lies. Some clourings and flavorings are absolutely fine when ingested, but not so much when they are used in vape, but as long as you but reputable brands of eliquid, not to mention reputable sellers ( or make your own ) then you shouldn't have a problem.

Now there is a big elephant in the room and that's these guys who make huge plumes of smoke. I have no problem doing it in private or in a large open space but when your doing it walking down the streets your just giving other vapers a bad name.

If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them for you but bare in mind i'm not a chemist or biologist and all my knowledge comes from independent research done over many years

Nicotine is a pesticide and propylene glycol is used for motor-vehicle coolant/antifreeze. Sounds safe to me. : p

Oh i completely agree, it was developed as an alternative to cigarettes and should be used as such

Propylene glycol is used as well. Its the yellow all-vehicle antifreeze you can put in Dex-cool or Green anti-freeze systems

Even with that ... its still better than smoking haha.

Edit: I'm being serious jsyk. Many things you use daily are used for other things that make them sound unsafe. I'm only mildly trolling you.

but that's pretty much like saying oh water's used in running cars to so that must be bad for us too. Different chemicals have different properties and can be used in a multitude of applications. As for nicotine did you also know its found in small quantities of potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants in fact any plant that is part of the nightshade family ?

Nature created a lot of stuff that we use in very different ways than what nature had intended look at chili peppers. It evolved capsaicin to be a deterrent to birds and other animals for eating it, now we eat it for pleasure to make food spicy.

I've been vaping for a few years now - I had to give up smoking when I was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in my tongue (it was back in 2010 - successful surgery and follow up chemo and radiotherapy - I've been 'all clear' since).
During the return to a normal life I started to miss (and crave) smoking, after managing to successfully quit for a year or so. Long story short; I would periodically drift in and out of smoking and quitting again before I switched to vaping.
Is it safe? Probably not. Is it safer than smoking? Most definitely.
I still have regular hospital appointments due to the cancer, and all of the health professionals I see (while openly still uncertain of the potential health risks that vaping may bring) agree that it is nowhere near as dangerous as smoking and definitely a positive step when used as an alternative to tobacco products.

it's also used in laxative
but i don't think it is safe to inhale PEG ,PG or VG vapor on a daily basis

also stimulants are awful

People with Asthma do inhale it on a daily basis. At least PG.
VG and PEG I'm not sure about. But there's probably a reason no one uses PEG for vaping anymore.

I'll tell you what @Lilith Valentine told me a few months back, if you're gonna kill yourself at least do it the tradicional way (aka regular cigarettes)

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
