99% of the time, Houston sucks

Side note: Houston Texas is the fourth largest American city, you'd assume they'd have their stuff together and be competent.

Comcast: lol Internet outage in Houston area

Me: sigh, fine I can use mobile data today

AT&T: lol cell tower down, have fun with non functioning cell signals all day in Houston area

electric company: Hello, we're informing you that we have mistakenly cut a line on your street block. We are sorry you are without power right now.

Me: huh? Looks up

Power goes out

So you received an email without an internet connection about the electric company that miscut the wire before the current goes down ?

@the_randomizer Austin has it, iirc. Houston, however, does not. Maybe central downtown might, but not anywhere in residential areas :/ it's the comcrap life for me

I'm stuck in the same boat, Comcast is the only fast ISP we have in this area, all others are garbage. Well, there's Century Link, but meh.

If you live in france there is basically 5 or 6 ISP but in a town you rarely have more than two options

Never had an issue with comcast ever. Ususally the issue is your modem since they rent out the shitty ones.

Well, the US still has its "lovely" duopoly on its ISPs, so you're pretty much screwed unless you live in a place with Google Fiber or something else.

And you're lucky that you still were able to get spotty 4G/LTE lol, where I live I can't even get signal to do a simple phone call. Luckily I got an UPS that at least let me keep connected for about 3 hours and a half, but it would be useless for you since Comcast died.

100% of the time. My town sucks.

Side note: It's one of the smallest towns in Brazil, you know shit is bad when it starts like this.

Internet: Oi: "We'll give you 15mbs for R$50! Oh, ooops, you can't get 15mbs, here, have 2mbs for R$45 and don't change it because you now have a one year long contract and it's your fault because you live in a shithole."

Me: Alright then, I'll just use 4G, it has pretty nice speeds at my friend's house, 1gb downloads in like 5 minutes.

Claro: "Nope, 4G doesn't work in your neighbourhood because our towers are shit!"

At least we always have po...

Pacheko, that reminds me when Vivo offered us 8mbps but then they just went "Hey, our system doesn't support that!" when it became unstable, plus they are charging us about R$80 for 4mbps. Claro also doesn't work here, even for phone calls.
Side note: I live in fucking São Paulo, not in some small town. :P

I live in such city too but do not encounter such problems... Only problem there is here that public transportation system is not great like back in home... :-(

lol comcast.
To be fair, they're shit everywhere.

It's not too surprising bigger cities have more problems actually. There's a lot more to go wrong. I'd never, ever, live in or near a big city...

I lost my power for an hour the other day and was very lost and confused.
...and I still had my phone to use.
