My laptop is fried

I have some seriously bad news. This morning my laptop finally died.
I plugged it in, turned it on, and it starting making this hissing noice and started smoking. Now it smells like burning wires.
So I will be on using my wii, but not as often.
I hope to get new laptop soon, but I can't promise anything.
Luckily I did remove the hard drive, so I should be able to recover all of Mike's and my files.

ouch!!

You could get the same model laptop again.
Then just transplant the HDD and optionally add the RAM from the old one to the new one.

I have an extra external hard drive case, so I am just going to use that. The laptop is rather old, so we were bound to have to buy a new one sooner or later.

Lucky for the HDD case then.

I got 2 the exact same laptops (one being slightly slower then my main one)

So if either one of them dies I always can keep continue using it.

Although that means that I'll have no more server laptop to stream with ;p

Mike's laptop was 5 years old. It was good then, but not worth buying again. I have my eye on a laptop right now and it's in our price range. Hopefully we should be able to get the money to buy it soon.

It still goes strong and is just as fast as some newer models ;3


Which one are you guys planning to get ;o?

nah but seriously bad luck, at least you kinda new it was gonna happen at some point i guess

I'm not saying the laptop I plan on getting, just so I don't ruin the chances on getting it. With the awful luck I have been having, I am pretty much not taking any chances right now

do you even know what parts of your laptop died, cause sometimes changing them would cost less than buying a new one (even trough comp these day are pretty affordable, around 300-500 bucks, well a bit more if you seek performance for heavy task like gaming or encoding video) at least it's not your hdd that fried so no loss of data, happened to me not so long ago result 250 Gb lost, the good thing is it was still under warrant :D
