Hi community. I recklessly installed the 5.5.6 update today and have now lost autoboot and Homebrew. I still have all of my games and save data, though. The icon for homebrew is still there but it errors when opening saying to restart my wiiu.

Yes, yes. I should have disabled autoboot and subsequently taken the update but I didn't.

My wiiu has been modded with Haxchi for what seems like ages. Now I understand that the new mod is Tiramisu.

Would someone kindly tell me that I can safely do the tiramisu mod with whatever is leftover on my system from haxchi? Is there a link to a good starting point for lost souls like myself? I need a hug...

So if I just installed Haxchi but never setup that autoboot thing requiring me to manually boot it every time, I can safely just install the update?

Cbhc or haxchi?

Hmm. Maybe it was Cbhc. I remember a wiiu browser based exploit and a game when I did the mod. I have a folder in my wiiu menu called 'HAX'

I assumed that it was Haxchi because of this. I did used to have a white on black text based menu that would appear (and auto boot into the wiiu menu) when it powered on. Now that's gone.

Apologies for the Haxchi assumption. Is there any other way of knowing? What mod I (or others that will surely fall into this trap) had?

If dlc isn't working, it sounds like sig patches issue. Retail will work without cfw. If that text on boot is gone, reinstall cbhc.

Thanks for your replies. Can you please clarify what you mean by dlc? Games installed by way of wup installer are working fine. Is this what you mean?

Then what do you need help with?

1) I've lost that boot menu when powering the wiiu on

2) When attempting to open homebrew, I get the following error. Please see attachments

edit: use this guide: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/uninstall-cbhc

Much appreciated. I'll read this over as it sounds like updating to tiramisu is a better idea

This guide says to use homebrew channel and the Cbhc installer to uninstall the virtual console title. I don't have access to my homebrew channel anymore.

The guide also states that if you don't have the autoboot menu anymore, you can safely uninstall Cbhc from within the 'dont touch me' folder in the wiiu menu.

Do you think it's safe for me to uninstall the 'dont touch me' application?

Was thinking the same. And I was to brick, it would have happened during the update.

I'll try this tomorrow and report back. Thank you again
I wouldn't recommend removing that do not touch me icon. You're having some sort of issue with sigpatches as @godreborn pointed out. Unless you properly uninstall CBHC with the official installer, it will brick your console. I would see if you can load HBL via the browser exploit (assuming it's compatible with 5.5.6 still I'm not sure tbh) and launching the CBHC installer from there. Then uninstall CBHC and setup Tiramisu.

In the event that you already deleted this and bricked there's a way to recover it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/cbhc-unbrick-guide-without-soldering.613371/ it does require some hardware but it's very cheap

I'm thinking that chbc is removed with the latest update, so he'd have to reinstall it to get it back. that error suggests that it is, because that's the same error you'll get on stock firmware if trying to load an eshop game.

I'll have to check my console and see if it updated as I'm on CBHC as well 😅
