I feel like a huge fool, ive been reading this long thread and will continue to read but I am a black screen user, installed from FBI with CFW The readme file I currently see at the github is this
"
This is the official repository of Sunshell, first multifunction shell for 3DS.
NOTE: Here you'll find only LUA scripts. Scripts run under lpp-3ds so if you want to use latest commits, please grab latest commit of lpp-3ds from main repository ( https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/lpp-3ds )."

I have tried to place the lpp-3ds_r5 toolkit installed in a few locations but have deleted them all and wanted to see if there was a different readme file I was missing... am I looking at the wrong readme file?

I seriously have no idea...I just can't get it to work. I followed it to-the-word, but still, the CIA gives me a black screen. N2DSXL 11.6U. Please, somebody help. New system versions unsupported?

it's only worked for me on my O3DS with 9.2 and Ninjhax 1.1. But it's a long time ago...
anyway... this homebrew is no longer supported

You're not doing anything wrong. Sunshell isn't compatible with newer hardware and newer system versions. Downgrade your kernal, NATIVE_FIRM, and system version and then perhaps it'll work.

You'll have to downgrade your 3ds' system version, which is far too much of a hassle for the sake of Sunshell, just give up on using it, it isn't maintained anymore and isn't worth the hoops you have to jump through to get it to work on modern system versions.

You need to have "index.lua" and "config.sun" files in the root, and if you have the "sunshell" folder inside "3ds", in your "config.sun" it must say:

main_dir = "/3ds/Sunshell"

I don't know about New 3DS, but in my updated old 3DS it works...

Doesn't work on my n2DSXl, I'll test it on my o3DSXL though.

Can confirm it doesn't work on o3DS XL after following the steps correctly with the latest firmware, I tested both ".3dsx" and ".cia" versions. Organiz3D however still works although it is an outdated fork of Sunshell. Someone should revive this project, nothing compares to the fluid UI and file format support of Moonshell 1 and 2. We need a real successor to MoonShell 2, darn it!

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
