Brilliant. I managed to buy a CECH-2500A with 07/2010 manufacture date today so it's one of the newest exploitable models. Too around 10 attempts to trigger the exploit through redthetrainer.com but finally got it working. Installed 4.82 FERROX and it works a charm. Can retire my old Phat CFW machine now.

Any particular reason to use REBUG over FERROX? They look pretty similar in feature set, and using it seems identical to using my Phat CFW machine which has REBUG.

REX = CEX+DEX but needs to be installed in a CEX console.
D-REX is the same but it needs to be installed in a DEX console.

Like you said, it is for developement consoles, yes.
Thanks, i still don't know what is CEX and DEX, hacking Sony's devices is harder than i thought.

CEX = Retail consoles
DEX = Development consoles, so it's not everyone who has got this type of consoles.

A little tip ; your console is a CECH, so it's a CEX console (first letter)
If you have a DECH, well you have a DEX console.

Definitive CFW. You can play online using PSNPatch or SEN Enabler if you choosed the Rebug CFW. But you can switch from CFW to OFW. But why would you go OFW if you already hacked your console ? It makes no sense.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

No, not yet hacked. Was asking cause i was thinking to switch to CFW for games backup, and back to OFW for online playing. Again and again. But if safe with PSNPatch (associated with ninjaPSN ?), i'll go the CFW road. At least if my Slim PS3 is compatible.

This should all be normal, right? Nothing in here is to low or may indicate what's going on?

Going to repost this here just because its a bit annoying. Although im sure its going to come off as "salty"

So many half assed versions of the exploit files are starting to be rehosted..if you're going to rehost them for the public at least try to make it user friendly and not on a wall of text with a small hidden button. Put some effort in. First rule treat end users like a toddler.

Small quirk, if you upgrade your HDD and thus have to reinstall 4.82 OFW from USB stick, you will have to run the exploit over again to be able to reinstall CFW. This may be obvious, but something I found out the hard way after swapping the 320GB HDD from my old Phat into my new Slim.

Is it possible to buy DEX console by mistake from retailer?
From what i see, many people have DEX console.

Some people convert their consoles to DEX for some reason. Some devs may also legitmately have DEX machines.

It's not as complicated as your making it. Just use CEX, the vast majority of people are using CEX (myself included).

As an end user I agree completely. Even as a decent programmer myself (though in different areas) this shit gets complicated and even some developers don't know what could fuck something up if instructions are not followed exactly. Hell I'm following exact instructions and can't get this working yet.

Never assume the people using your service know what they are doing.

How do I reverse this? If, for some reason, I want to go back to OFW, how is that done? Simply install the Sony PS3UPDAT.PUP?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
