Yes it does.

The custom SM is just 4.1 with an elevated version. It works the same way that a cIOS set to a higher version than that of a stub does. Even if you don't have Priiloader patches enabled to block updates, you can still play games and access the Shop Channel without worrying about being updated to 4.3.

When I got the system in December 2012 it had 4.2U on it so I figured i'd just update it considering it already had boot2 v4
