oh yeah fuck that

First thing people do when some new info gets release is start a massive riot over it without looking at past events.

Remember Microsoft and their "always online" policy?
The whole drama around it was bullshit anyway cause 99% of the gamers always have their console connected to the web...

What, having a day 1 update to add important features they couldn't ship it with? If they didn't support sdXC the backlash would be even more, whats wrong with just 1 update?
yea, day one update wont prevent any potential hack, which exploit could they fix? we haveànt found any yet, so they probably havent either

It says that you always have to be on the latest FW to use exFAT formatted cards...
Again, no.

A day 1 update is needed to use the card, not an update is needed to constantly use them. What probably happened is they couldn't get SDXC support in before shipping, so its a day 1 patch.

Your miss reading.
If the Switch ships with FW 1.0
And FW 1.1 is day 1, for the sd card.
Then what they are saying is you must be on the latest. FW which is 1.1 in order to use the sd card.
That doesnt mean your have to keep updating to 1.2, 1.5 ,2, 3, etc... to use the sd card.
What it means is FW 1.0 will not support it. While FW 1.1 and above will

OH, okay...

...That's still kind of dumb.

I think there is some kind of misinterpretation going on. Nintendo likely meant that in order to use SD cards, you have to unlock this feature with a day-1 system update. Other than that, there is a FAQ at Nintendo's website that states the Switch will be able to support up to 2TB SD cards.

Nintendo introducing a special format for SDXC? That's a bit of a stretch. Considering that SDHC will be usable out of the box. Please don't start rumors or speculation. The temp has users that take it to heart and then freak out over nothing.

Yeah, no. I don't care if 100% of people were always online. That was nothing, but unnecessary and anti-customer nonsense.

To bad that Microsoft nor any other company care about the small percentage.
They look at the majority of the people who would purchase their product.

You'd do the same if you where in their shoes.

You are missing the point. The point is, the "drama" over always online was completely justified.

"Always online" was totally acceptable. It's not like we're going to use our old consoles 20 years from now, long after the online service is discontinued.

/me looks at Sega Genesis on the TV stand, now totally unusable because it required online connectivity... oh wait, it didn't.

I'm not missing the point.
The entire point is that Microsoft wanted to future proof their console.
More and more people are getting broadband internet and more and more are gaming online.
They figured "since 40 million orso people are always playing on XBLive or have their console connected to Live anyway, there's no reason why not to include offline only capabilities"
Microsoft could send update notices and game update notices to your console that way so that you'd be always up to date and ready to play with your friends.

Ofcourse, the small percentage of whiners and pirates stirred things up and took the majority of the already ill informed people with them.

Take a look around you.
The vast majority of the gamers have had their PS3 and 360 connected to the internet at all times as well.
It actually makes no sense not to do it.
Especially with the rapid movement to "the cloud"

The thing isn't even out and people are already worried about them blocking potential hacks? I'd be glad if they finally did it.
