A 3DS/2DS hard mod is a modification to the main board in the console. It involves soldering wires onto specific points of the board which allow you to physically connect the NAND chip to an SDMMC card reader. This permits reading the NAND to a backup on your computer, modification of the NAND if desired, and writing the NAND back to the chip. This is useful for safety (backing up the NAND before carrying out potentially dangerous operations on the NAND), as well as downgrading from otherwise un-hackable firmware versions. Installing a hard mod is delicate work which can, if done incorrectly, completely and irreparably destroy the console. It is therefore best carried out by experienced solderers. This thread lists members of this forum who are experienced in installing 3DS/2DS hard mods. They are organised by region so members seeking a hard mod can find somebody nearby who can carry out the modification for them. All modders on this list have been vouched for by other members for whom they have carried out work and have therefore proven themselves to be trustworthy and competent. Active Modders These modders are actively taking requests to install mods. Please send them a private message to make arrangements for your mod to be installed. If you do not yet have enough posts to send private messages, you can tag them in a post in this thread and ask them to contact you. Removing these before sending will reduce the postage costs Make sure you see photos of the modder's work before sending to them. You need to make sure they are capable of doing what they are advertising. If they are offended that you want to verify their ability before sending, then go elsewhere. How to get added to this list If you are a hardmodder, please PM me with the following information: Your country and region What types of modifications you are able to carry out Photos of your mods, both internal PCB photos, external port mountings and if applicable cable adapters The usernames of at least one (preferably more) users on this forum for whom you have carried out mods and whom can endorse your work It sometimes takes me a few days to get back to people who PM me with requests to be added to the list. It takes time to verify modders as I have to contact the referees, and then I also have to update the gallery and add their details to the list. If you PM me and don't hear back from me within a few days, please feel free to pester me How to get others added to this list If you know of any other trustworthy providers of hardmod installation please PM me with the username and region of the modder and I will make contact with them to get the details I need to add them.
