Devolution with the addition of Keyboard and mouse control makes for a new experience in old games. I think the mouse support in Killer 7 makes it SO much easier to shoot efficiently.. I also hear more and more about some progress that musclenerd (iphone fame) may have along with of course fair0verflow. I hear he has the wii-u hacked for home-brew with Gamepad and all.. I have a small feeling that Devolution has or will have a wii-u build sometime this new year! I can't wait to see Devolution running at the even quicker wii-u rates and as I said before, Gamepad support!! That would give many of us reasons to purchase a wii-u that don't have them yet...

That is not correct. A while back tueidj added USB keyboard and mouse support for all games, although the control mapping is hard coded for killer7. But he said it should work in all games: http://gbatemp.net/threads/devolution-public-release.330554/page-83#post-4419889
Wow, thanks for the heads up guys! That's truly awesome! It is just what I was looking for. Tomorrow I'll try it, it is gonna be difficult to control Mario with a keyboard, but hey, it is better than nothing...
Anyway, its just a temp solution, until tueidj adds the wii-mote-CC compatibilty, like you said thevoiceover, that would gives us a really, really good reason to get the wiiu. Cheers to that! :grog:

With the sample loader, you still need the GC controller to choose the game. Dunno about other loaders, but I think some of them at least will allow using a wii remote to choose the game, if not all other loaders.

So I come across this nasty deal with Devolution..
I'm currently using Devolution r169. After sometime of updating Devo and Wiiflow I can't get Devo to run for nothing. When I start up a game (Melee for an example) it just black screens for a minute or two then goes back to the system menu. I tried everything I could think of to to fix this problem and so far no luck. I did however deleted my .DVV files thinking that they may went corrupt somehow, instead when I go to reverify my games it's not recreating the .DVV files.

edit: It's also not picking up my memory card either so I take it stopped reading my hard drive altogether.:(

Does anybody have a clue to what I should do?
Anything would help if so, Thanks.

First off, try using the sample loader.

Second, find an at least 2GB USB flash drive or SD card and try reading from one of those.

If a flash drive/SD card works but your HDD doesn't, then you at least know the issue is related to your HDD.

That's what I thought you meant but still I wasn't 100% sure. I have already did that sometime ago and got the message
"No memory card found in slot A (-3), memory card emulation will be used."
Then I press X to mount USB drive then get the message
"Select Game: <disk://games>Disc Id 00000000
Press START to exit"

So I take it is the hard drive but I don't understand why it would just up and quit on me..

Hard drives fail, they just.... do. And being mechanical, it's unlikely for them to die in the exact same way. This is one benefit of flash memory - they won't die just from being read from, only from being written to.

Still though, it may have just gotten corrupt or something rather than have failed. I would say try re-formatting the drive and see if that helps (note that formatting deletes all data, so back-up anything important).

Everything else works tho. My Wii games, roms, movies, ect. It's just Devolution don't want to pick up my games or my memory card emulation.
There has to be another way around this or I will just give in and buy a new one... like today. I can't be having this. I got friends that come over so we can smash all nite lol.
And I would like to use flash drives too but there just isn't one that's 3TB

Ah, it's a 3TB? So I'm guessing that's why you don't want to format it?

Well, I would say try renaming "Games" folder to something like "Games_BAK" and then re-rip a copy of Melee via CleanRip; then create a new "Games" folder and throw the newly ripped ISO into it said "Games" folder..

It's very possible that it's the game/s that got corrupted rather than the entire drive and/or the USB loader itself.

I thought about doing something simular to that as well. But still it don't help with it not reading my virual memory card which is also on the drive.
So that to me eliminated the corrupted games.. but if all else fails then I suppose I will have to do that to see

Oh.... the memory card. I have heard that, supposedly, the emulated memory card function isn't 100% stable and can get corrupted. You may be out of luck unless you're willing to use a save from someone else's copy.

But yeah, that's one thing - try renaming the memcard.bin to something like BAK_memcard.bin and see if you can load games at all, regardless of having your save data. If not, then you may have to re-rip a game disc as well.

Damn, it's gonna be a long morning.. I suppose I'm gonna go thru with this.
But even with my saves are corrupted, I'm smart enuff to make multiple backups for time like these. No way I'm losing 700+ hours invested in Melee

Well, try the stuff I said first about renaming the memcard.bin and/or the Games folder - you need to make sure they can actually work and it's not your hard drive!

No problem. The only thing though is that I'm quite tired since it's the middle of the night to early morning here and I only was able to sleep 5 hours even though I normally sleep like 9-10 easily. Of course if I had slept normally I wouldn't have been here to help you, so perhaps my availability was fate? :P

ToddofWar420 i am just wondering, were do you keep your GC iso's? is it in \games\ or are they in subfolders?
Because the sample loader only looks in \games\ for the ISO and if not found the sample loader will not work.

Also its very weird you tell us the memory card emulation is not working, because how do you know if you can't start any game with DEVO?

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
