Hi, I know this subject has been brought up many times over the years but i still can't find a way to solve this problem anywhere. Basically, the game plays fine, but the save data always end up corrupted whenever you start the game after playing once.

I found on other threads, forums etc that the same problem happened on the nintendo ds but that wasn't my case when i first discovered the game at the time with the european version on my R4. Now i want to play the game again, but neither the american undubbed version, nor the japanese and european versions function. I always end up with the corrupted data.

I tested the roms on desmume and this problem doesn't occur so i guess this is a problem of compatibilty between the game's roms and the New 3ds (can't say about the other 3ds/2ds consoles though). Also, i tested 2 european version roms. One that i downloaded in the last few days, and the one i was using on my R4 like 15 years ago (which worked perfectly on the ds). So if someone has a clue on what i should do to play this game without having corrupted data, i would be very grateful.
I don't know if this could be an option, but some people from 2008 were talking about exchanging some file from the japanese version to the us one, but since neither of those work, i doubt this could fix the problem actually.

Thank you in advance for your help !

Are you playing the game via TWiLight Menu, or are you playing the game via your flashcart? This is unclear.

The compatibility list (which you can easily find here by Googling) indicates this is a known issue with this game. There is nothing you can do but wait for it to be fixed, or play it from your flashcart instead.

Yeah i've seen that list, but it also says that the european version works perfectly even though it doesn't for me (same "corrupted save data" issue as the US version), while it worked on my own flashcart (which only works on Ds). Maybe there's different versions of the european rom. I'll try looking a little bit more into it and will wait for the problem to get fixed if it still doesn't work.

Still, thank you for the answer

I saw on the compatibility list it said the European version worked, I’ll have to run some tests here shortly and I’ll report back

Have your tests been succesful ? I have already tried the european version at the time of my orignal post, but the data corruption problem was still a thing

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
