Atmosphere Switch CFW version 1.5.0 in pre-release, adds support for firmware 16.0.0

aaaaaaaaaaaaaa.png

As promised, SciresM did indeed get a brand new Atmosphere CFW release out as soon as possible. Atmosphere 1.5.0 is here, in pre-release form, and adds support for the recent Nintendo Switch OFW release of 16.0.0. Since this update is in pre-release, that means pending any major bugs, it will be in full release imminently. SciresM says there's still some smaller details left to handle in an upcoming update.

1.5.0 is Atmosphère's sixty-ninth official release.

Please be sure to update fusee when upgrading to 1.5.0. fusee-primary no longer exists, and will not work any more.

Please note: Atmosphère 1.5.0 is currently in pre-release, and issues may be found that need to be fixed before full release.

  • If any bugs are reported while Atmosphère is in pre-release, they will be fixed and the build will be updated.
  • 1.5.0 will transition to release after a short amount of time has passed without pressing bug reports.
With thanks to the @switchbrew team, Atmosphère 1.5.0 is bundled with hbl 2.4.3, and hbmenu 3.5.1.

The following was changed since the last release:

  • Support was added for 16.0.0
    • mesosphère was updated to reflect the latest official kernel behavior.
    • ncm was updated to reflect the latest official behavior.
    • Many FS apis were updated under the hood to reflect the latest official behavior.
    • Please Note: 16.0.0 made breaking changes to a number of system APIs, including in FS/NCM/Shared Font commands that some homebrew programs may use.
      • These programs may encounter strange errors, and may need to be recompiled with a libnx updated to support 16.0.0's changes to function properly.
      • If you are an impacted developer, please contact SciresM#0524 on discord for assistance.
  • A number of minor issues were fixed and improvements were made, including:
    • An issue was fixed that could cause GPIO outputs to be misconfigured under certain circumstances.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

First time? As far as I know it has always been this way as intended. If you want reboot to hekate then either make a reboot to hekate or change the reboot payload to hekate
The reboot payload I can fix on my end (I keep forgetting that atmos clobbers the reboot payload if I upgrade by drag-and-drop), the question is if emuMMC takes priority over sysMMC if I can't go back up to hekate for whatever reason.

depends on what your /emummc/emummc.ini says...

emummc_enabled = 1

Atmosphere will load emummc. Doesn't ask; just checks.

It has stay unchanged for a while now which means it is likely to be stable
Okay but I mean my switch (launch model) is already at 16.0.0, so is it to late for me to use this pre release? I kept getting the impression you're supposed to update the atmosphere in the switch BEFORE updating the OFW.

EDIT: Nevermind, I read that wrong. But if as you said it change for a while, I guess its start using it.

Update atmosphere before HOS is only so emunand is able to boot. Atmosphere is only some files on your SD before booting HOS that you can change at will as you please

Yea, I got myself confused earlier because of all that sig patches talk mentioned made me think there were some "extra" steps to take this time. I managed to get nxdumptool to work and back my copy of metroid prime remastered perfectly fine.

I know this is a dumb question, but how do I update everything safely?

Also, it seems like tinfoil automatically updated to V16 and now some games won't download updates (or download at all). Will updating my swtich fix that?

--edit--

I figured out how to update. It didn't fix my tinfoil problem, but I'll ask about that in a different thread.

Hi all, thank you in advance for potential assistance. I updated to 16.0 so I could use GBA Switch online. I updated atmosphere, hekati, sig patches, hbmenu, hbapps, dumped keys. My games work fine as far as the actual Switch games and I can get to the hb menu, but when I try to launch anything from HB menu I get an atmosphere error: Error code: 2347-0003 (0x75b) Program 0500000000010000 Firmware: 16.0.0 (Atmosphere 1.5.1-master-8274081e3) An error has occured. Please press the POWER Button to restart...

I tried deleteing everything from Atmoshpere except for contents and recopied it, same result. Should I delete the contents folder also? I forgot what that does and not sure if it will remove something I want to keep. Or any clue what the issue could be?

yes, the problem normally is the contents folder, start with a new atmosphère and Hektake installation, copy NEW set of sigpatches, when you are booting ok, install the homebrew you want, remember to use latest versions of everything.

Sadly, getting the same issue.

If you have a clean atmosphere folder (rename or delete the old one then copy the zip from github) and start with injecting fusee you should be fine running homebrew, nothing else is needed. If it still don't work try removing forwarder ( those that pretend to be a game ).

Thanks! Going to try this tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Edit: Got it to work by holding R on a title instead of the fwder, thanks! So I need an updated fwder I guess?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
