Yep, Luma can do that as long as you have Enable region emulation selected in your Luma settings and followed this:

  • Enable region/language emulation: Enables the region/language emulation feature. This allows some games which need a specific language to be set to work, and DLCs for foreign games to load.
    • To use it:
      • Create a folder named locales inside luma/
      • Create a .txt file with game's title id as the name (look them up on www.3dsdb.com).
      • Inside the file,
        • Put 3 characters for the region ("JPN", "USA", "EUR", "AUS", "CHN", "KOR", "TWN")
        • Put an empty space
        • Put 2 characters for the language ("JP", "EN", "FR", "DE", "IT", "ES", "ZH", "KO", "NL", "PT", "RU", "TW").
    • For example, to play Pokémon™ Y in Japanese language and region:
      • Create 0004000000055E00.txt
      • Put in JPN JP
      • Save

So it can't be done universally (with a simple check in setting or download some cia) but one at a time? Okay then :)

but i can use it on last SaltFW with the same firmware.bin
What do i need to make it work with luma ?

The DSiWare Downgrade guide says that a pirated version of the dsiware will not work. Would a "good" cia version of the DSIware work considering they all look the same to Nintendo?

No, because any type of game cia will not transfer via the System Transfer.

Thanks. I am scared to try that since it's unofficial and this isnt actually my system.

I tried swapping SD card from another A9LH system that is running fine and it booted in the 2 DS. However this created some menu data and when I put the card back in my working system the game with updates are now asking to be updated again. Did I screw up my SD card by putting it in another system? Should I just re update the games? Should I restore my memory card from an earlier backup? (this will just cause me to lose some progress in a game).

I also found my working system boots with SD card that doesn't work in the 2DS. SD cards have been giving me all kinds of weird issues but this 2DS definitely seems to have some card reading issues, at least as far as booting. I have another SD card that works in android tablet but can't be read by my computer.....sd cards are unreliable it seems.....I even just had an SD card reader go bad on me where it always showed up as my R4 sd card no matter what you put in it or even if it was empty...fukn weird

any chance restoring a sysnand backup would tweak the boot timing of the SD card back to when it was working reliably with any SD card?

Hi!
For region changing a A9LH 3DS (it's my own one this time), I'm confused about the step where you have to hex edit secureinfo_c.
Stuck at this step and oneards 'Go to the beginning of line 00000100 and press (A) on it'

Region changing from eur to jap btw
Edit: did download the 9.2J CTRnand and injected it so I'm confused

My questions are getting buried with the amazing rapid-fire help-giving =‿='

a) Is it possible to take any-time screenshots with Luma3DS or do I have to to load up NTR/Hans for that?
b) Is it possible at all to take screenshots of NDS games and Virtual Console games? If not, is it because it hasn't been done or because it can't possibly be done?

Do bundles generally get higher firmware rereleases?
I've noticed a rather cheap DBZ bundle n3ds at a retail store and assuming its not been returned, its supposedly <10.

Few questions about region changing. I currently have a Japanese N3ds which has A9LH installed (via Plailect old 5-step guide). As I cannot read japanese, It has started to irk me now as I try to dig deeper into the hacking of the console.

I know Plailect has a guide for region changing but I have a few questions about it to convince me it is the way to go.

1: Does region changing have any impact on the overall device, as in 3D stops working or weird loading events? I'm ok with not having the eshop. I never go into it anyway.

2) if I do the region change, will I have to reinstall all the cia? Doesn't bother me if I have to, just would like to know so I can prepare.

3) when updating from 9.2U after the region change, do I go through the system menu and click update or do I use a separate app? I'd rather not lose A9LH because I decided I want to read everything in english.

4) Does the region change affect online play? Will I be forced to go at it alone in games if I perform the region change?

thanks in advance
