Hey guys, new here though I've been lurking this site for the past 10 years it seems like.
My AceKard2i for my DSi finally went kaput and so I thought about getting a card that could play DS roms on my 3DS.
I asked around on reddit a bit and got suggested the R4 Dual-Core RTS as it could play them on the latest system version of new3DS.
I just got it and so far it's a nightmare. It has this file limit size that also counts the path of the file towards the size so I had to chop all my rom names down to these little stubs while trying to figure out how large the size was (before I realized the path was part of it). The system/UI that it uses is god awful and doesn't support subdirectories so I can't browse all 150+ roms on there in any sane manner. Plus the browsing is super slow unless I "zoom out" where it shows little shapes as representations of my files, but then only gives me my butchered file names instead of the actual game info.
I miss the system/UI that my old AceKard2i had. It let me set favorites, it let me browse through the file system with folders. It moved quick and snappy, let me edit properties of each file right there, rename, copy, cut, move, paste, whatever. I could change the view from one line to detailed, game info or file names, display .sav and .nds or just .nds, anything I wanted. And it worked fantastic. And didn't have this ridiculous file name size thing.
Is there anything I can do to get this card to function more like the the AceKard2i I had running AKAIO? I have seen pictures of R4s running a similar UI and I wonder if this one is able to do the same. As it stands, it's awful and I want to get rid of it.
If I can't get it to run like that, then is there another card out there that will run that UI that works with the current N3DS?
Like, if there is a front end or file browser/launcher that I can even run that would be great. Just noticing when I load up SNemu3DS that it's so goddamn easy to browse files. Would love to be able to just browse the files on my card!
Thanks for your help!
