2. I am not madmonkey
Wait, your not madmonkey? I have to admit I also had that confused. Does madmonkey post here as well?

BTW... to answer your question to me earlier, about the var/cache I haven't seen the issue with other cores. Could it be possible we are hitting a 30mb limit on that folder? The limit doesn't apply to the subfolders, correct?

No, I am not. I haven't seen him post here. And I don't think he has an account here, either.

So, just to clarify: I didn't implement the module system, RetroArch module (in its basic form) was implemented by Cluster and madmonkey.
The RetroArch binary was compiled by madmonkey and cores were taken from RetroArch's buildbot.
I didn't like the settings in retroarch.cfg and decided to modify it. That's how we got here :)

I'll have to hook my NES up to UART, get some SNES roms on it and look at it.

Ok, just a quick question, where do you place all the retroarch bonus mod files? Do all go in the User_Mods folder?

Ya Keith... I'm a little unclear where to put core files, bios-template and the cloverApp, liberettocore files.

The Retroarchhod appears to definitely go in the 'user_mod" folder.

How is the n64 compatibility? Any videos? I understand some of the cores runs too slowly?

Thanks! I can't wait to see what you find out.

I added these questions and the link. If you wish to expand on them let me know...

What systems does the NESC support? How do I install them?
A: A large number of systems are supported include everything from the basics like the SNES and Genesis to the rare NEOGEO Pocket to the more powerful N64. You can find more details about individual systems and how to install them here.
Source/Credit: @pcm720. (This user is also responsible for several of the tweaks to make them all run better!)

Q: Can I add an unsupported core to the NESC?

A: Yes, you can create your own core as well (need to add instructions).

Guys, please! I need help:

To run a rom of nes with nestopia by force mode:

Code:
--guest-overscan-dimensions 0,0,9,3 --initial-fadein-durations 10,2 --volume 75 --enable-armet --retroarch

What else should I add to the command line?

For the FDS games is it's same command model?

PS: I have a new hakchi, and some detects me with the official Nintendo emulator, hence the question.

Thx.

It's in the manual.

I've answered some questions in this post

@pcm720 Quick question, ( that might be able to go in the faq ) If i want to upload a rom hack of an nes game but keep the original as well do i just rename the romhack? example: The Legend Of Zelda <~~~ being the original and Legend of zelda outworld <~~~ being the rom hack . Will they both be listed or would one overwrite the other?

Also what is the xmb_assets.hmod for?

I don't think it the subfolders are the issue either. I'm pretty sure the subfolders aren't true subfolders in the way you would think. For example, I believe if you have navigation setup like this:

Folder A->SubFolder A_1
Folder A->SubFolder A_2
Folder A->SubFolder A_3

Folder B->SubFolder B_1
Folder B->SubFolder B_2
Folder B->SubFolder B_3

What the system really creates is all of the folders in the same area...

True Folder Name 01: Represents Folder A (with pointer to the other folders)
True Folder Name 02: Represents Folder A_1
True Folder Name 03: Represents Folder A_2
True Folder Name 04: Represents Folder A_3
True Folder Name 05: Represents Folder B (with pointer to the other folders)
True Folder Name 06: Represents Folder B_1
True Folder Name 07: Represents Folder B_2
True Folder Name 08 Represents Folder B_3

@pcm720, @Cluster, @others any thoughts? Is it possible the SNES Emulator has some cache directory/folder that would be hitting the 30mb limit even when spanning across multiple "navigational folders"? As noted earlier (and in bug reports), what I've observed is I have a maximum of 18 saves allowed for SNES at the moment. If I delete a save in Navigation Folder A, I can then create a new save in Navigation Folder B. The system still has space elsewhere as I can create saves for other emulators without issue and removing games doesn't fix it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but I'm not referring to navigation folders. I'm talking about individual folders on the main screen only, but with games only (no "navigation folders") inside. So instead of one SNES folder with multiple folders inside, you would just have four SNES folders on the main screen. If you were to put all the games in one folder or all the games on the main screen without folders, it would crash because of the indexing limit--which is obviously why we have folders in the first place (so the GUI is only loading 30 games plus art and save states at a time).

thank you guys, I will look for an appropriate screwdriver :D

Tri-wing screwdriver...and just get a couple shorter screws at a hardware store if you want them to be flush with the plug after removing the clear piece.

I just submitted to pcm720 the following working cores:
mednafen_vb
fmsx.hmod
mednafen_wswan
chip8

The following cores were also submitted and already included:
DOSBox
handy
mame2003
mednafen_NGP
pcsx_rearmed

I would like to officially thank @nesito for the hints about the pcsx_rearmed core !

About mame2003 you need mame 0.78 romset (you can also find mame2003 romset, it is the same); do not use older or newer romsets and always use parent sets, not clones or different game version (read here for more info about mame romsets organization). Tested games are:
Black Tiger
Bubble Bobble
Commando
Dynamite Dux
Final Fight
In The Hunt
Mercs
Ordyne
Puzzle Bobble (you need to add neogeo.zip bios to every NEOGEO game folder or create a module to add neogeo.zip in retroarch \etc\libretro\system without having to copy it to each NEOGEO game folder)
Tiger Heli
Toki

I also built the following core modules:
gme : this core lets you play famous music consoles file formats [ay|gbs|gym|hes|kss|nsf|nsfe|sap|spc|vgm|vgz] (tested with .vgz and it works)
imageviewer : this core open graphic files [jpg|jpeg|png|bmp|psd|tga|gif|hdr|pic|ppm|pgm] (tested with .png and it works)

The abouve 2 cores (gme and imageviewer) will probably not be inlcluded in the future releases because they are not emulation-related but here they are if you want to test them: https://www.sendspace.com/file/2odv8q

Non working cores (for me) are:
beetle_psx (substitute it with pcsx rearmed)
mednafen_psx (substitute it with pcsx rearmed)
mednafen_lynx (substitute it with "handy" core, it works great !)

Dunno if the following cores work, if someone can help with further testing it will be great:
scummvm (i tested it with monkey island but without success, need more tests - substitute it with DOSBox)
mednafen_pcfx (I cannot find a small .iso to test)

Wait. Mednafen_VB is working for you? Did you play warioland on it? It was running slow and crashed for me. It could have been a bad ROM. I thought it was the emulator? How much testing did you do on it? And with what games?

Are you talking about a Wii Classic controller? The screws are perfectly flush, in fact they go al the way in.

Just wario land and it works normally, not slowly (played just few minutes). Maybe bad ROMs or old core? Just try my one when it will be released! I just test if cores are running games, I am not able to full deeply test many games, there are users for that ;)

I also tested virtal jaguar; some games reach the logo screen, others always black screen. I think the core is still very primitive.

I might be confusing the situation. When I say "navigation folder" I am referring to the various groups of games created by Hakchi. The program isn't systematically creating subfolders is what I meant to say, but rather just pointers all in the same main library/directory/folder.

I'm curious how your testing goes tonight as to whether you can create 30+ saves on the system...

As for your first question... I have about 6+ games along with a hack of those games. They all display separately just fine. You can name them differently in Hackchi, and I give them different covers.. You should be golden.. (I don't know the answer to your second question)
