Hey guys, I was thinking of hacking my 3DS soon. Thing is I used to use a gateway so has that changed my 3ds system in any way that I should so something else before I try to hack it?
Those are down. Nintendo doesn't offer online services for DS or Wii titles any longer.I think I might be okay with that for <$20. I can't think of any GBA games that wouldn't have DS versions that I would wanna play.
I wasn't aware of any such thing. I mean only game I could see using online is pokemon for trading in black/white and black/white 2. I wouldn't think those would be down.
As an addition to the above, there's loads of clones of R4 cards which stop working at different firmwares. So if you get an R4 it may not work on your console whereas DSTwo will definitely work.Oh that is good to know! Couple more questions. I apologize for all of them. However, how does it handle saves, online access and stuff? Am I allowed to play the game like I owned it? Would I noticed a difference?
Also what is the difference between R4 3ds and Dstwo? The R4 seems to be only $20 which is why I ask.
Well darn, thats okay then though I guess. It doesn't affect main gameplay. So besides lack of GBA support is there any reason to not go with R4 instead? Is it as easy to use like the DStwo where it would simply just insert and work? Currently they have a sale where for $24 I can get two of the r4 cards. Those are down. Nintendo doesn't offer online services for DS or Wii titles any longer.

Just follow the Plailect guide. If it is a new 3DS and you downgraded MSET, you should reinstall the original before starting.Hey guys, I was thinking of hacking my 3DS soon. Not really. For those people it's better they use freeShop, I guess. So I was using uncart for the first time and it's fine for me although could be better but I realized for some people they don't have a computer. So is there any homebrew for .3ds to .cia?
It's an old 3ds xl. The plailect guide is for a9lh right?Just follow the Plailect guide. If it is a new 3DS and you downgraded MSET, you should reinstall the original before starting.

I don't believe the original R4 team sells cards any longer.I am buying directly from R4. Not a third party site. They claim that they will always update free of charge and that it already works with latest 3ds firmware. So as long as its as simple as load r4 firmware and roms and im good to go and no cfw. I am sold.
I am in the process of buying R4 3DS Dual Core(2 with buy one get one) for $24.
Yes. If you don't want a9lh you can stop after upgrading to 9.2 and having Luma3DS with menuhax and FBI injected to health and safety on emuNAND.It's an old 3ds xl. The plailect guide is for a9lh right?
I am not sure. Is this the original?I don't believe the original R4 team sells cards any longer.
No, not unless you hold up while booting into Gateway mode, which allows cart updates. If your firmware is not high enough, the game won't work (will get stuck on the 3DS loading screen). Is there a chance of accidentaly getting your 3ds updated by a dump game loaded with gateway, being your 3ds on a firmware lower than the required by the game? Thanks!
They're all different clones. If you have a console on the latest firmware without CFW you are best off getting a DSTwo for guaranteed compatibility. If you have CFW, 99% of DS flashcarts can be made to work (even those that never worked in the DSi).I am not sure. Is this the original?

They look promising to me. Here is the one I am looking at.

Though now I am confused what the difference between R4 3DS, R4 3DS Dual Core, and R4i 3DS Gold is. I can't see which one is the best to have.
I noticed your link is to the Gold one...so should I be looking at getting that one?
The original R4 team is long gone. The R4i, etc... that you see today are all clones, but they all work fine anyway.I am not sure. Is this the original?

So if i dont have my emuNAND updated to the required firmware, the game wont load at all? i dont get that part of holding up while booting gateway mode? what do you mean? thanksNo, not unless you hold up while booting into Gateway mode, which allows cart updates. Good! That's what I like to hear. The original R4 team is long gone. The R4i, etc... that you see today are all clones, but they all work fine anyway.
I think I am going to go with the gold then. Idk what the differences are but I know the gold says specifically plays DS games. Have you used both of these personally or at least had experience with them? Not really sure about the specific differences of each flashcart, but the Gold will work fine if you just want to play DS games. I know the R4i 3DS RTS and R4i 3DS Gold both work on the latest firmware.
The site you linked to looks really overpriced for the cards though. You can get them much cheaper elsewhere.
If you don't have a high enough firmware, the game won't run. By holding up, I mean pressing "up" on the d-pad while in the Gateway menu, when pressing "A" while Boot Gateway Mode is selected, to boot into it. To see the Gateway menu, you need to either not have your Gateway cartridge inserted when booting Gateway, or hold L while booting into it. By booting into it, I mean either using the DS profile exploit, the browser exploit, menuhax, homebrew launcher, or however you get into Gateway Mode.So if i dont have my emuNAND updated to the required firmware, the game wont load at all? i dont get that part of holding up while booting gateway mode? what do you mean? thanks
They're all clones. The original R4 team packed up and moved on many years ago. These companies are just using the name because people feel familiar with it.Since this link is sponsered by gbatemp is it not a clone?
When you use DS cartridge, the 3DS actually run in DS mode but cia file run in 3ds mode so imo thats why its not possible as 3ds and ds mode are different and you would need to emulate DS mode in 3ds mode but the power difference between the 2 is probably not big enough to allow this. But how is it working on the official side of Nintendo? I have read I can play official DS games on my 3DS. So why is it not working as CIA file? I don't understand this, what is the difference here to any 3DS game?
Thank you, it took me about 8 hours but this guide is excellent. Playing all of my GBA Favs without the DSTWO eating the battery
