No, I would have considered it if it used SD cards.
That's the worst possible excuse I've ever heard in regards to the PSVita -
"I won't buy a gaming system because a memory card that I only ever have to buy once is expensive" is a poor man's excuse for disliking a system on principle.
Fair play, I too believe that the system would be so much better off using SD cards, but I understand why the PSVita memory cards were implemented - to bounce back from the losses taken by selling very powerful hardware at practically a dumping price. At the end of the day, at the time of its release Sony offered hardware on the level of high-end tablets for a fraction of the price - it was a good value then and it's an even better value now after all the price cuts.
The PSVita is a little handheld that could, it may not have a lot of games but the games it does have are phenomenal. Titles like Soul Sacrifice, Uncharted: Golden Abyss or KillZone: Mercenary or full-on home console ports of big name titles like Injustice, Mortal Kombat or Borderlands 2 show that it's perfectly capable of delivering near-home console quality video games on-the-go - it's a force to be reckoned with.
The built quality of the system itself is fantastic, it's sturdy, dual analog works fantastic and the display is stunning - there's very little to complain about as far as the console is concerned. On top of that, the PSVita has a proper HTML5-ready browser built-in, a Youtube app that doesn't suck, a proper Skype client and access to loads of different services of the sort, making it a pretty convenient device.
I have a PSVita 3G/WiFi and I love it - I use it to its full extent on an almost daily basis and with PS+ around I've never found myself not having any games to play. I'm not one to pay for online services, but when the service gives me so many monthly games that I don't even get the chance to get through all of them before the next lot comes in, I literally have no complaints and nothing but praise, especially since I own a PS3 and plan on owning a PS4. PS+ is possibly the best service offered to console gamers in years.
If you're going to tell me that all this doesn't matter because
"the memory cards are pricy", you have to realize that you sound a little bit silly. You only buy a memory card
once and within two months time, you'll have a far bigger problem - trying to find space for
all the games.
Naturally I voted
"Yes - original model" and I have no regrets whatsoever. I hope that the system succeeds over time and I know that it won't beat the 3DS in sales, but I don't particularly care - I just hope it sells well enough to entice developers to release even more software for it because it really deserves it, it's a great system.
