Hello everyone! Hopefully in a couple of days I'll be getting my New 3DS XL. It's on the latest firmware version 11.6.0-39E. I was wondering which flash cart would be the best choice? I want to install custom firmware so I can use the freeshop. I was looking for resellers from Europe, but most of them seem kinda sketchy (If anyone's had a positive experience from a EU reseller feel free to suggest the shop you used).
Would something like this fit my needs (I am unable to post links as a new member): R4i Gold 3DS Plus (19.99$) from the nds-card website

I've also noticed a cheaper variant, but from the description it doesn't seem to come preflashed with ntrboot loader. Since I don't have a sd card reader I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to flash ntrboot loader myself right? R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS for New 3DS /3DS v11.6/2DS/DSi/DS Lite (13.99$)
If you really have no way to copy files to the micro sd inside the flashcard, then you need the preflashed one and it's also a bit quicker/easier. The other one will work if you can copy a few files over. You should order from nds-card. They're the most trusted site.

Thanks for the quick response!
Well, if I can put the sd card in my phone I could copy them over? Also do I need the sd card that they are offering with the flash carts, or can I simply use my own? I've also noted that according to the 3ds guides website, the cheaper variant has a time bomb.

1. Yes
2. Your own will work
3. It means the card will no longer work after that date for playing ds games. It can still be used for ntrboot and it might be possible to use a custom kernel on it to use after that.

As a noob i would say downloading copies of your retail games from Freeshop is very convenient, absolutely! But not at all what i expected when i bought a 32 gig micro sd card to put inside the r4 flashcard....

Soon as the console is hacked and you downloaded the games you wanted, you really don't need the flashcard anymore. What size of micro sd does the r4 flashcard need?

Only a small one, because nds games are very small.

Do you only need an sd card for ds games and can i run my 3ds games on an r4 gold without a micro sd in the flashcard?

I had to take my MicroSD Card out of the 3DS, and later, I formatted it by accident. Is the 3DS itself still on CFW, and I can just re-install all the stuff I had? Or do I have to do something else?

Yes you still have CFW. Follow the parts of https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup you need to to get your homebrew programs back

Hey another moon question for you guys what mod chip for ds games shows the spongebob icon, that they still sell.
While I'm not aware of the answer to that, as even within the same flashcart model they sometimes have different icons, is there any reason for you to want that specific flashcart?

Hey everyone! I am trying to get the stock N2ds XL I got for Christmas onto BS9. Ultimately I would like all my NNID and saved data to end up back on the N2ds XL in the fewest transfers/the least hassle without buying a Flashcart or hardmodding.

I have 3 3ds Family devices: a N3ds XL with no NNID on it (let's call it Source 2), a O3ds XL with BS9 (Source 1), and the one with my NNID and all my saved data which would be the Target.

CFW O3ds= Source 1
No NNID N3ds= Source 2
N2ds w/ my NNID= Target

Can I transfer from the Target to Source 2 then install CFW on the Target from Source 1, and in a week format the Target then transfer from Source 2 and have my NNID and saved data on the target with BS9?

You almost have it right. You'll transfer target to source 2, wait 1 week, then follow https://3ds.guide/installing-boot9strap-(dsiware-game-injection) to install CFW on the target. I am assuming source 2 already has CFW.
