Nintendo Ends Miiverse This November In Japan

img_0.jpg
Launched back in 2012 on the WiiU, Nintendo's social network is officially closing down this November 8 in Japan.

After shutting down, accessing Miiverse will have the following error codes 115-5004 for the Wii U and 015-5004 for the 3DS:

The over 70 Wii U games and over 20 Nintendo 3DS games that have Miiverse features in Japan will be left feeling empty after the service shuts down, as illustrated in Super Mario Bros. U image below:

No word if or when Miiverse will be affected in other regions. However, it shouldn't come as a surprise since the Nintendo Switch does not use Miiverse features. Time to move on, I guess.

Damn, as much as I didn't care for Miiverse as far as Wii U goes, I did use it at times on 3DS to take screenshots.

As much as Miiverse was a novelty, seeing it killing off a lot of gameplay features isn't good. The admins were bad and you easily got warned, but it just isn't the same as Facebook or Twitter. I at least hope someone can provide a service to bring back MK8 and Smash tournaments and everything else, like with Nintendo WFC and WiiConnect24.

They should try harder to have a better social network. It was worst than xbox live and miiverse was released years later to it, why is it so hard for nintendo to just find the middle ground between the network for mature gamers to have flexible social interaction in games and "child block" environment? There is a reason why parental locks was invented and still focus too much on limiting people, probably to save themself from possible responsible backlash from law suits or something.

(Half way through i have no idea what i was saying)
I think the main problem was that they made a social network that is exclusively used by Nintendo gamers that use either a 3DS or a Wii U, the network just never worked on the 3DS and the Wii U was unsuccessful. It's a great idea but I don't think it'll ever work because of how small its userbase will be regardless of what console it's released on.

Damn Nintendo, even if I never was a huge user at Miiverse, but why my XBOX 360 & PS3 is still supported by their "creators". I know that Wii U is like ugly deformed child locked in the basement for them, but i think that 3DS will be going to bye bye and abandon like Wii did.

They could change Miiverse in a way that users are only able to see content their friends have posted (+give the option to see everything via parental control or sth like that). That way moderators would not be necessary. Or: Only see friends' content + an open community without moderation.

They could at least patch some games so that we could still upload Smash videos to youtube (miiverse sharing is only asked after the youtube upload anyway!), but it is Nintendo, after all.

Sth like Nintendo's IRC :P wondering if hackers/devs use it behind Nintendo's eyes ;)

Regarding Flipnote, Japan is a very conservative country socially, and so is Nintendo. So when Japanese media caught on to the fact that Japanese kids were basically sexting each other with their 3DS systems, Nintendo freaked and pulled Flipnote.
It's because pedophiles were using it.
