also doesn't the app offer free scans? if there's free stuff to get and you arent forced to buy the app, how are you getting ripped off?

well technically yes I think the authors must have an account on our site. I don't know their usernames though

I personally use "Pokemesh". It's a bit slow, but it works. I've tried a few, and that one seemed to work the best. (It was the only one that really worked.) There's a few others like "Poke Radar", "PokeDetector", and "Pokemap Live" though I have not used those. Pokemesh requires a PTC login, but can filter Pokemon and send notifications when something is found within the scan radius. I'm sure you could find more alternatives on APK mirror sites. I'm just listing the ones off my memory.

Why on earth would gbatemp promote this? I mean this is a app reported by one user to not even work. However I would take that augment with a grain of salt as its just one user makes you PAY to search. Now that is legitimately the scummiest thing I have ever seen.

I. They are using niantics severs offered to the public for free. (With IAP but for basic use its free to anyone who plays the game)
II. They are making money off of other people's hard labor
III. There are plenty of good tracker apps for free like Pokemon GO rader. Granted it depends on the user submitting the info but on the other hand at least it's free.

I do reckon mate! The one I know and use is Go radar - live map for Pokemon go. I'd be interested to see how a completely free app and one that uses other people's work to try to gain a profit compare!

If it means anything - it also didn't work for me. I scanned once and it didn't work. Waited an hour and did again, nothing. I opened Pokemon GO and there was stuff nearby. Tried it again and it showed nothing.

I'm not standing near a pokespot so these are pokemon that should have been detected by the app. That said, I know that Thug was able to get the app to successfully work when he was testing it before this review.

Also, GBAtemp was not paid for this news piece. AFAIK we have only ever had two sponsored news pieces (like a year ago) and they were both posted by admins (red names) and the titles in both made it obvious that they were sponsored. We had a discussion about this last year in the staff forum so I can vouch that this is NOT a paid advertisement.

Hell, we're not even paid for reviews or news pieces. We post the news that we want to post and review what we want to review for no other reason than because we want to and are driven to inform.

I'm being completely transparent here. Put the conspiracy theories aside.

At least Pokémesh is free and you are only forced to a few ads only if you want the overlay option to display the map while playing Pokemon Go, otherwise you can disable it.

I've been using it almost daily. It kinda takes some time to display Pokémon but it's working super fine. Also it has been receiving updates every two days lately.

As Garro said, it's rather slow, but it gets the job done. I let it sit for about 30 seconds before taking the screenshot, and it only found that.

all of them work again if they updated the api. the "halt" so to speak was cracked 4 days after they were "halted" so stuff should be working again

I'm sorry but this app is bs if you have to pay for it. There is no middle ground here. They are attempting to make money based off another's work and servers. I don't care if it is optional or not. That right there is just morally wrong and unacceptable. I believe you when you say you were not paid, but please don't defend the app against these principles.

Yeah, and every rom on it I own the actual physical card. the r4 is simply for convenience, because I don't like to have to bring all my cards with me when I travel.
