Please excuse me but im a major noob when it comes to command prompt/compiling files. I wouldn't even know how to use command prompt to convert these files. I thought the converter would be something simple :P can you walk me through it? Thanks! Also When i launch the exe file it opens command prompt and immediately closing it.
Shift+right click inside the folder with the boot.dol and the exe and "Open command window here" then type that in.

Was the error ticket -2011 or -1017

The problem with most IOS is that being unpatched, they can't disable ABHPROT or allow NAND access. Usually a 236, or other CIOS can do this. However nothing's currently vulnerable.

In any case, check your PM. It may not work most likely.

I get this error after converting the boot.dol into boot.elf. I dont think that converter is working as intended.

I believe 249 might be vulnerable but it hangs while trying to locate the WAD files.

I didn't expect that to work - those .DOL->ELF generally are for older GC stuff.

2011 is a signature check failure (non-exploitable or usable IOS)
The hanging most likely is due to the fact that 249 is using a base for a Wii and not vWii therefore any calls to it go to the wrong places in memory.

You could try 36 - but doubt it would work.

One other thought - go back to HackMii installer, and let it hang on the scam screen. On the SD should be a file that has a dump of the HackMii log. Perhaps post that here to see what is actually installed on the system.

Without a vulnerable IOS or CIOS you won't be able to install anything. Hopefully you can get it fixed or you may be sitting with a brick :(

Usually there's a log file in the root of the SD card, unless it barely made it anywhere (which is possible)

Usually called INSTALLER.LOG

I think there are other methods to load homebrew besides using the exlpoit. There's casper and pussyloader, not sure if they work with the vWii though, those were released for Wii and might work with vWii.

i was told that casper loader and pussyloader wont work on the vWII and not to touch them. Do you think its safe?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
