As reported on by "The Hollywood Reporter" a live action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is in the works. Being produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions and being co-financed by Sony Pictures, the movie is in the early stages but has been in active development for years. Wes Ball of the Maze Runner trilogy is set to direct.

"Nintendo representative director and fellow Shigeru Miyamoto, who is set to produce the project, posted Tuesday to X (formerly Twitter) that he and Arad have been working on a live-action movie version “for many years now.”

Miyamoto continued, “We have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”

The “Zelda” movie is co-produced by Arad, whose credits include every live-action “Spider-Man” movie and the “Spider-Verse” animated films. The film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with more than 50% financed by Nintendo. Sony will handle the theatrical distribution.

I remember watch Super Mario Bros movie and it's really good but short time like 1 hour feeling like not finish and maybe will be more on another new movie in near future.

This is interesting that Nintendo are opening the door wider to more movies.. they were careful with Mario and it wasn't a bad film.. Zelda should be interesting, if they manage to pull it off then i hope Metroid would be their next installment, with a heavy mixture of hand puppetry and CGI i think that would kick ass

Who knows, we all thought the Mario movie was going to be mid as fuck because the people working on it and the actors starring in it, but then it turns out because Nintendo had a stranglehold of the film it turned out far better than anyone could have expected.

Until we see the film this is the hill I'm dying on.

Meh, time and time again, we've seen gatekeeping is good, and you need to protect the things you love.

After seeing the meltdown twitter people had over link and zelda living together in tok because implying they were a couple and link wasn't gay, I don't care what "normal people"/"twitter people" think.

As long as Kathleen Kennedy and Disney is kept far away from nintendo properties, I think the movies will be pretty decent.
Also It's gone far beyond just gamers, South Park; Enter the Panderverse has gone viral with tiktokers, and normal people.

I do think specifically saying gamers is a bit too much, but for the people that are doing for money, they have to do it now for the grift and then disingenuously changed their mind if the movie does well, like Mario.
