The PlayStation uses a double-speed optical drive that can spin up to 2x and has a transfer rate of 300KB/s.

So I'm not sure how you would define discs as being read fast as it's always remained the same way.

i've never owned a ps1 till now, so I'm not familiar with this aspect of it

The PS1 is an excellent CD player when in good condition. It can detect audio CDs extremely fast. Data transfer is limited compared to a proper PC drive. Loading and video streaming with double speed, audio streaming and slightly lower quality videos with standard speed.
Loading times can be a patience test, but developers got good at hiding them.

a few of my friends have bought 3dses and they've been modding them. every time they google something about 3ds modding they get closer to seeing one of the horrible things i posted when i was 15. this is terrifying

I still sometimes get people asking me questions about the Gateway guide I wrote over 3-years ago. I only did it just for fun. Nobody is going to use these in most cases, and they've been sought after collectors items because you get to own a piece of 3DS hacking history, and nothing more.

Nah, one was a wider team meeting with our deputy director, one was an all staff call with the senior leadership team and one was the directorate leadership team. There was a lot of hot air!

How often do you go back and pick up some of the devices you get after review? When I was buying stuff I found myself buying and using once or twice and then just let it collect dust. Another reason why I stopped.

People are used to the possibility to make anything disappear they don't like with buttons named ban, kick, mute, ignore, block…
They aren't used to dealing with unpleasant situations anymore and fail at this even online.
Online "social" interaction is pretty much like making swimming movements on the floor. It's not like the real thing, but you can't drown either.

If you learned what it means to endure hostility in real life, possibly to the point of being life threatening, then "nasty" text messages become a source of entertainment rather than a reason for feeling butthurt.

Finished Valkyrie profile, difficult game but i believe it's intentional to encourage playing around
scenarios that seem impossible. The OST is great I'd recommend giving it a listen.

The good news: The power came back on!
During the outage I was charging my 2DS from my Nintendo Switch so I don’t have to wait for the power to come back to charge my 2DS.
