Zelda Wind Waker HD randomizer released

Just a few weeks after the launch of Skyward Sword HD's randomizer, Zelda fans can one again rejoice as a new way to play the popular Wii U remaster Wind Waker HD has been released. Much like Skyward Sword, Wind Waker has long had a popular randomizer for its original release, but this marks the first time players have been able to enjoy the enhanced graphics and tweaks of the remaster in a fully random way.

For those unaware, randomizers take the familiar landscape of a game and shuffle obtainable items to create entirely unique playthroughs that can provide interesting and new challenges. Many of the available settings here will be familiar to users of the original Wind Waker randomizer, with the app itself being incredibly easy to navigate and use. On top of being able to pick what you want to shuffle, you can also customise your player model's colours right out of the box.

To keep track of your progress and tell you what is available with the items you currently have, the randomizer also features a tracker built-in. Again based on the popular web-based tracker for the original game, it will auto-save, allowing you to work through the game at your own pace. For those playing on console, you're also able to re-randomize the game without needing to remove your SD card thanks to the bundled homebrew app.

This project was made possible thanks to the efforts of SuperDude88, with help from csunday95 and gymnast86 and the bugfixing assistance of the ForTheUsers developers. If you're interested in checking out the randomizer, you can find its GitHub page linked below:

There's a Wind Waker HD randomizer now, let's go! Being able to play a Zelda randomizer with the GamePad's instant item swapping and real-time sea chart is great. Thank you for this.

I'm guessing with no .appimage you must compile it for native linux I run nobara (fedora 40 for gaming handhelds) on my deck so anyone knows how to compile on linux (seems straightforward qt+cmake compiling)

God this site is full of whinging babies. I Don't use randomisers but good news regardless.
listen noob if you even bother to pay attention and READ a little you would know how much of a prick nintendo is now at dmca. they are taking down MODS which have absolutely no original content included in them. apparently the assholes can get away with whatever they want now they make their own rules regardless that mods are NOT FUCKING ILLEGAL or infringe on ANY COPYRIGHT!! if they want to take this down they can and will and nothing will stop them. and THAT'S WHY people are posting their concerns in here.

Gonna be real with you, you people are stressing out about it too much.

At the very least, it taking up the majority of conversation with this thread has been pretty lame. People aren't discussing the randomizer itself at all, giving feedback, or appreciating how cool this is because "Heh, wonder how long THIS one will last!!!!!". It's such a dead horse. I've heard the "Better be careful of Nintendo lawyers!" thing a million times.

I do agree with this. Any post about mods is just flooded with people saying “OMG DMCA”, and it’s tiring. We know Nintendo. Heck we’ll probably report it such a project does get struck down, so why not just leave such comments to those posts? These are cool mods and do deserve a bit of discussion around what they actually are.

Yeah it's been like that for years. It's unfortunate when I want to see what people think about a mod and the first two pages are "dmca incoming" or trolls like Blade just bring unnecessarily negative

Does anyone know how to add or change the player model in the randomizer?
I don't know if you can straight up change the model file for link, but there is an area in the randomiser settings to change up the textures and whether or not link is wearing his pyjamas or not. There are a few preset textures and you can also customise them to your liking.

I thought you needed the master sword to beat the game but it turns out you don't. I went all the way up Ganon's tower without a sword of any kind and the game just gave me one for the fight for me to use. Overall it was a very good randomiser, and everything worked out correctly for me.

Did you use the "Remove Swords" option? Usually the fully powered up Master Sword is a requirement, and getting to the end of the game without finding any swords does seem a bit odd.

Either way sounds like a fun seed!
