you can switch the gamepad display if you want by using a homebrew

run it from the Homebrew launcher.
then launch what you want (youtube, netflix, etc.) and press R3 to shutdown the "display".
only the display is OFF, not the touchscreen, which can be useful to navigate/pause/etc.
That's not shutting it down entirely to save the power, but at least there's no more led powered.
