Youtube Bandwidth & HTML5 Problems

I remember back then when the new html5 youtube wasn't there, videos would load according to where you're playing at. For example, if you're playing the video from the beginning, the video will only download like 10 seconds more (grey bar thing just a cm further from the playback circle thing).

But now with the HTML5 video type, as I open a video on youtube, the whole video downloads. And I got a new fast internet connection, and all these 30min videos I only want to watch a bit of, gets downloaded in a few moments, and this is killing my bandwidth limit (fuck bandwidth limits >.>).

So I was wondering if there's any way to get the old player back or use some other solution? I know gbatemp really isn't the place to ask for something like this, but I really don't know where else to post something like this. Any help is appreciated. :)
