Homebrew YouTube ad blocker?

Don't know if there is any way to do it on hardware but I am mainly here to wonder if you could get a version of youtube-dl ( https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/index.html ) or equivalent loaded on the Wii U. Or you could possibly have a raspberry pi or something with a copy of youtube-dl on it and have it serve up the videos from there -- would also stop any buffering issues and give you the option to skip forward and back without having to load again.

Does DNS stuff work for youtube? My PC browser based stuff has trouble from time to time and I would have thought the rather more imprecise nature of DNS would not have made that better.

Also I was thinking make the pi a media server of sorts that grabs videos upon request rather than some kind of network fiddling device.
