There is a line in the film Layer Cake that runs something along the lines of "years ago criminals were trying desperately to get money out of banks, today they are trying to get money into them". Nowadays lots of the kids want to learn how to capture and stream video, this reminded me of my old creative TV coder. Back then rather than capturing footage every kid wanted to get footage onto their TV, in my case of emulators.
Nowadays every TV has a VGA or HDMI port which sorts most issues there (at least until HDMI's being a less than optimal video method rears its head), before then graphics cards with svideo out were not too hard to find either. In some cases it kind of went the other way as well and people wanting to play consoles on their PC monitors but the idea of a VGA box is still a current one.
