It should do, but repeatedly copying to the SD card:
* is slow
* will eventually screw the SD card
* is slow

and it is slow.

You can already get SSD/HDDs many times larger than there are games available, so you shouldn't need to swap the hdd.
What are you hoping to achieve with this?

I have an external HD that runs to both my wii u (for wii games in vwii) and my xbox360 running Aurora dashboard. I'd love to be able to put all my wii u games on that rather than swap sd cards all the time. I have some pretty big sd cards but they still only hold so many wii u games. (And we have a ton of wii u games)

That device is aimed at camera -> sd card -> hdd, it won't help much with switching games on the SD card.
