Wii Sports is "RSPE01" for me.

If someone could reconfigure a boot.dol for me, I will be happy to test it out.

I currently have already dumped some game banners/icons/sounds as shown here:

image101i.jpg

Those are the official banners and I dont need to change anything but the channel title ID / boot.dol.

i would prefer a wii application that extracts banner/sound on the wii and displays them in a nice looking menu. this app could be stored ass a channel on the wii. ss like that:

doesn't have to be that fancy.

Launching from Channels is the fastest approach though.

Since these are official banners and everything, they are all compressed correctly meaning they wont take up that much space at all.

For obtaining the Banners from Games (fastest method for me):

Open up the .ISO with WiiScrubber.

Go to the Data Partition.

Scroll down until you see "opening.bnr"

Right click and hit "Save/Extract"

Rename that file to: 00000000.app

Obtain a wad file you would like to use as the base.

Unpack the wad, replace the 00000000.app with the one from the game.

Rename "boot.dol" to 00000001.app and replace it.

Repack the wad.

Use New VC Injector to edit the Region/Title ID and everything is all set.

*Do not give a channel the same ID as the game itself as you may overwrite the game's save file.

i don't like the idea of having docents of channels on my wii. i would racer like to the maybe something what is similar to the sd-menu on 4.0 but with all games on the hdd.

If you are on 4.0, then use the SD menu.

All the games are on the harddrive, just move the channels over to the SD card and its all set.

Or you could use the Homebrew Channel instead, and place all the boot.dols in the apps folder on the SD card with icons/meta.xml and launch the game through there. This is the second fastest method.

So, is somebody going to release a collection of extracted Wads soon? Would have done it by myself, but i'm currently using a mac and can't use WiiScrubber

Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know that you can take the dols that have been supplied and modify them in a hex editor to work for the game you want. I took the Wii Sports one provided, opened it in hex and searched for the text string "RSPP01" and edited it to "RSPE01" (which is my region Wii Sports) and it worked booting from HBC. I'm going to try injecting a wad next.

Easy.[*]Run wbfs mkhbc from the dir with boot.dol and icon.png.[*]Move these folders to apps/ on sd.[*]Run HBC.[*]Your very own game menu with individual png-images for each if you please.

Yeah... that's all the "makehbc" command does from wbfswin... it takes the boot.dol already included, changes the game id and copies it to the appropriate folder along with some basic info in the xml like the game title.

Btw in regards to the channel names.... wouldn't you WANT the channel to have the same game ID? The loader itself isn't going to use the id for any game saving, but the game you launch is.... that way you can use the same save file for both the disc and the iso. This is currently what the usb loader is doing as it still used all my save files when I ran the game.

It doesn't change the game id, the binary reads the current path name and deduces the game to load from that. You can diff the boot.dols in your folders; they're all same.

The reason hexediting of this binary is possible is because i took out the parsing code and hard-coded a game id in the source and recompiled.

Well it couldn't be that fancy because nobody has a 360-degree "box rip" available for games to use a a texture over the 3d model of a dvd case.

As far as a menu with png image support that should be fairly simple..... the wbfs boot.dol (yal) is doing all of the work.... a homebrew channel-like app would just have to be developed that supports pngs of that dimension and loads dols. Find one that is open sourced and change the dimensions.... it's as simple as that. If somebody writes the wii app I'll be happy to write some sort of pc-end app that finds the appropriate boxart and sets up the boot.dol for each game.

Sorry, I misunderstood.... I thought you hadn't made the custom binary yet.

In that case you should compile a generic one with a real obvious (but fake) game id it'll be easy to replace, like "BOOT" or something.
How about I go ahead and write yet another wbfs gui that uses your boot.dol instead? I can automatically patch the boot.dols using the folder name and that way the end-user doesn't have to worry about it and can either use it in the hbc or go ahead and copy it over into a channel.

I've been using Wadder to try to get these into wads and install them...every time it blackscreens and locks. No text at all. The edited dols boot fine in HBC but I get zero activity when launching them as channels. If someone else can get them to work they will be my idol.

Are you using joda's custom version and have you edited the gameid... because the stock ones won't work in a channel.

...having hardtime to get 222 installed...
You tried running IOS downgrader and stuff to reimplement the signing bug?
Yip, tried to install on 2 different wii's:
1 is still on 3.2 with trucha. (trucha confirmed by tests)
2 is on 4.0 but upgraded using waninkoko's updater and have a trucha-patched IOS60. (trucha confirmed by tests)
No usb devices attached, allways give me the error -(some number, forgot it now) and a message unable to allocate temp buffer space for encrypted content.
You out of memory on NAND?
definitly not. there is space enough

Is there any methode to do the IOS222 install offline?
have a pretty big hunch it is related to the internet connection setting.
which IOS does the IOS222 installer uses?

untill now it looks it is unable to initialize the network.

UPDATE: seems to be crappy wifi, if ip lease is not quick enough set then it fails.
UPDATE: offline install is possible if you add 000001000024\v1042\* files to the sdcard

Happy now :-)

I used his custom version hex edited to launch RSPE01 (NTSC Wii Sports) and I used one he compiled specifically for RSPE01. Both launch the game from the HDD fine as an app in HBC, both blackscreen when installed as a system channel via wad.
